When asked who they trust the most with their secret, many mothers would say their partner. The intimacy they share and the time spent together makes most any secret impossible to keep. That's why many couples make a united decision to find out the sex of their unborn child together — either at an ultrasound, on a piece of paper or in the delivery room.

When it comes to car seats, moms can be pretty clueless. The inability to sit in them and test drive them makes buying them a rather haphazard event. In an ideal world, mums could borrow a seat for a day and roam the streets, which would allow all parties to evaluate the ease of use and comfort instead of solely relying on safety ratings and the advice of other mommy friends.

The difference between a mad woman and a happy mother? Her stroller. I'd go so far as to say it's the single most important material purchase parents make for their baby since they use it all the time.

Shopping for a nursing bra should be as thrilling as a trip to Victoria's Secret! The "uniboob" contraptions of the past have been replaced by comfortable, cute and easy-to-use undergarments that are as fashionable as they are functional making the task of choosing a bra easier than ever. We recently sat down with some experienced sales help at Destination Maternity to discuss what expectant mamas should look for in a nursing bra.

Mommy Dearest,
I am about to return to work following the birth of my first child and am investigating my childcare options. After interviewing some nannies and visiting daycare centers both home- and program-based, I thought I had settled on a daycare center with low student to teacher ratio, clean rooms and a great daily schedule. After sharing my plans with family and friends, they started presenting me with horror stories about day care — children who are more aggressive, constant ear infections, lack of attention, etc.

"Oh, my uterus!" may sound like a laughable exclamation, but coming from someone who has uttered it, I can say I meant it. Before my first pregnancy, I was fairly clueless about my internal organs.

Every night, I give my five-month-old a bottle to make sure he is getting a heavy dose of milk to help him sleep through (a relative term) the night. After gulping down his meal last night, it was clear my son wanted more. Knowing his limits, I held him and patted his back while his head rested on my shoulder.

Move over carriages and baby bottles, we're throwing a baby shower for guys and gals to attend this week. Many friends of first-time parents are often still single and sometimes weirded out by the fact that their buddy is about to have a babe. Starting with the invitation, set the tone for this celebration with a twist.

When my sister potty trained my niece, she gave her lil one part of the responsibility. Proud of her task, my niece eagerly waited for the moment after she was done to put her pants back on.
Not able to differentiate front from back she was clueless at first, but figured out the right direction with a lil help from her mama.

In my days of baby preparation, I read tons of pregnancy books to soak up as much information as possible. Most of the texts offered up a small section dedicated to mastitis. Seemingly not that common, I skimmed over it and didn't pay much attention to the subject.
