I think it's creepy when horror movies incorporate circus music and clown images into their scary scenes. Though I don't mind clowns, I've seen a fair share of kids freak out the second they saw Bozo.

So it's not too surprising that the Nursing Standard magazine reports that children are afraid of clowns.

Researchers from the University of Sheffield asked 250 children ages four through 16 whether they liked the use of clowns. All of them said they found clowns scary.

Penny Curtis, a senior lecturer in research at the university said,

"We found that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable."

So before you book entertainment for your babe's next birthday, you might think twice about the options.

Do You Make or Buy Your Kids' Halloween Costumes?

One day it's a clown and the next it's a character from the hit movie of the season. With each turn of the calendar page, kids seem to have a different idea of what they want to dress up as for Halloween. Growing up, my mom, grandmother and aunts would take our costume requests and fashion them from scratch.

Today, many mothers forgo sewing machines in favor of store-bought costumes that come complete with every bell and whistle needed to help lil ones achieve the look they want. By heading to the store, parents can address their children's last minute changes.

Do you prefer homemade or store-bought costumes?

The neurotic mom from Spanglish looks anything but in real life. Téa Leoni and her lil man Kyd Miller were all smiles as they clowned around on the streets of Malibu.

The stud muffin shares his mom's steely eyes, angled nose and strong jawline. But we must say that traces of his Californication father David Duchovny are also apparent in the lil guy's features.

Lucky Kyd and Téa never have to ask, "David Duchovny, why don't you love me?"

Mom-Me Time: Tumble & Tea

Having lunch with your mommy friends can be challenging – especially if you've got kids tugging on you every five seconds begging for attention. They also have a story–teller, a music teacher, and a clown who are scheduled during the weekdays for the kids' enjoyment. On top of all that, they offer birthday party packages which even include clean up! Now if we could just get these crankin' in every city, moms could really get that break they deserve.
