Feb 23 2009 - 1:00pm Hoping to catch a few more Oscar nominated flicks, I watched
Changeling over the weekend. In the intense film, Angelina Jolie plays Christine Collins, a woman whose son goes missing and her subsequent struggle with the police department who replaces him with another boy. As a mom, the movie hit incredibly close to home.

yup. i couldn't watch the changeling and won't watch any other movie involving horrible things that happen to children. it's enough of a nightmare with my own imagination that i won't let anyone else add to my paranoia.
1I could swear we've had this question before. But yes, very much. I couldn't even handle watching the scenes in Passion of the Christ where it kept switching back and forth from Jesus falling to Mary's flashback of watching him tumble as a child.
2Greggie you and I have been around too long, at some point they will need to cover some of the same topics again
I can't watch certain movies, I can't watch the news, I can't even listen to peoples stories about kids with cancer or children that died. I have enough to worry about on a daily basis I don't need to fret about all the other potential things that could happen.
3I do a lot of avoidance as well. Right down to putting down a Nora Roberts book I was reading when my daughter was a month old because it mentioned losing an infant.
4Greggie - new picture? adorable!
My husband and I were watching Law&Order SVU, and the episode was about a missing little girl. My husband said that we are not going to be able to watch these shows next year! (we will start TTC this Dec. yeeeps!)
5greggie and macgirl — we covered something similar about news reports. i just realized that now I can't watch movies either!
6I mostly have issues with commercial's. I know that the movies are make belive but some of those dang commercial's hit so close to home.
7I am definitely more sensitive to issues or movies involving children. Can't sit through much before I just feel sick over it. Actually, violence in general on tv or movies affects me more since becoming a parent.
8I just completely remember talking about Passion of the Christ before as a response to if we can watch movies in the same way.
9My mom is very sensitive about movies. Anything, even happy movies like watching a graduation will have her crying. Something sad about kids just breaks her heart. I think a lot of parents are like that, though...because they will start to think about what would it be like to lose one of their kids, etc.
10even before a parent i was a crybaby, as my fiance puts it
11haven't seen the changeling, but slumdog had me about ready to leave the movie. there is one scene that was horrific. i kept telling myself "it's not real, it's just a movie" and covering my eyes. can't stand the thought of a child being taken advantage of, that innocent trust they have is so raw.
12Well I had no desire to see Slumdog before and now I'm sure I won't. Thank for the warning.
