Certain things around the holidays make us nostalgic and Charlie Brown is one of them. I grew up watching the bald and lovable lil guy and the rest of the Peanuts gang as Halloween drew near when the animated specials aired on television.
It's a tradition I'm passing along to my tots starting with It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown ($10).

Already a fan of Eric Carle's beautiful and creative illustrations in children's books such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear and The Hungry Caterpillar, I'm excited to see his art now appearing on alphabet flash cards ($15).
Each card has a letter of the alphabet on a colorful backdrop on one side and a splendidly illustrated animal to represent the letter on the other. And, the flash cards are made out of a heavy card stock, which makes for good tossing around the room without too much damage.

Once upon a time, a trip to the grocery amounted to two brown bags and a $70 tab. Then came baby and the bill doubled along with the loot. More mouths to feed means more food to buy, making bulk purchases more attractive.

Orange is the new black when it comes to nursery decor. While traditionalists may opt for blue and pink bedding, parents with more contemporary tastes are gravitating toward the slightly retro, ultra-hip orange and brown color combination. The scheme works particularly well when outfitting a unisex room.

Give me an H-A-L-L-O-W-E-E-N! What's that spell? A couple of cheerleaders and a quarterback dressed up and ready to trick-or-treat.

Studies show that babies who are read to and sung to at an early age will demonstrate higher reading skills than other children. While many parents don't think a newborn is paying attention to the texts in their early days, getting them into a routine of reading will be worth the time spent in their infancy. These are 10 books every newborn nursery should have on the shelves.
