Wonder Woman: Tina Fey

Few women have had a better year than Tina Fey. Any mom that could steal the spotlight from the four people vying for the nation's top posts deserves the Wonder Woman title.

The Vanity Fair cover girl was the star of the election season with her dead-on impersonation of vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Not to mention that the creative genius walked home with two Golden Globes last weekend and four Emmys last year for her hit show, 30 Rock. She also recently signed a $5 million book deal. The first female head writer for Saturday Night Live, Fey left the show following the birth of her daughter, Alice, 3, with whom she has appeared in adorable ads for American Express.

The supermom is also involved in the fight against hunger through her work with Mercy Corps, an organization that educates about world poverty. With her schedule filled to the brim, it is no wonder that Fey disclosed to Vanity Fair that the possibilities of having another babe were slim. She said:

"I feel like the window is closing - I’m 38. Obviously you want the best chance of the baby being healthy, and I think with our life and jobs right as they are at this moment, it doesn’t seem possible. It’s the year after the baby comes that is like someone hitting you every day in the face with a hammer."

Congratulations to the revolutionary mom who once said that her daughter carried a candy resume to her preschool interviews.

Would You Rather Read About Mommy Time or Take It?

There's buzz about the new book, If You Give a Mom a Martini ($12). Written by two mothers looking for ways to sneak in 10-minute intervals of me time while raising their kids, the text offers readers 100 ways to spend their time from having a quickie with the hubby to taking the long way home and rocking out to music in the car. While it's a clever concept, I'm curious if any mama is so far submerged in her children's lives that she needs obvious suggestions for how to fill free gaps. Flipping the pages to digest the offerings takes up about 30 minutes, three intervals I'd rather spend tackling my wish list of to-dos. Here's a few off the top of my head.

Build a sandcastle on the beach at sunset.
Sit and watch how peacefully my children are when they sleep.
Drop what I'm doing and give my kids my full undivided attention.
Zone out.
Have an uninterrupted telephone conversation.
Donate the bags of clothes I have bagged for giveaway.
Make homemade peitit fours with my daughter.
Play dinosaurs with my son.
Film a fun Father's Day video with my kids for their daddy.

Wee TV: Feist on Sesame Street

The 39th season of Sesame Street is set to debut on August 11, so the Children's Television Workshop has provided us with a sneak peek at one of the celebrity acts to join Elmo and friends on set. Popular Canadian singer Feist will kick off the season with a special rendition of her “1 2 3 4” song.

The new season will feature a host of guest celebrity appearances, including Will Arnett, Jessica Alba, David Beckham, Heidi Klum, Neil Patrick Harris, Sandra Oh, Jenny McCarthy, Jason Taylor, and Jack Black. The show will also introduce parodies of several popular shows, such as 30 Rock, High School Musical, and Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?. With a lineup like this, I may be setting up the Tivo more for myself than my daughter!
