Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) involves the injection of a single sperm into a single egg; the resulting embryo is then placed in the uterus. One little tidbit prospective couples should prepare themselves for is that the sperm collection for ICSI involves more than a dirty magazine and an airtight container: sperm may need to be retrieved directly from the testicle with a microscopic needle or surgical biopsy. It's not as painful as it sounds, but don't be surprised if wanna-be dads advocate for other options.
