Jane Birkin could take the simplest piece of clothing and make it the chicest thing in the world, which just goes to show you, it's all about how you wear it. After all, a good basic never goes out of style. Perhaps that's why there are still waiting lists for Hermés Birkin bags, almost thirty years after Jane first inspired the design. Cotton on Kids Tees: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?
Cheeky baby tees are too much for some families. Moms and dads who snatched up the Famous on Facebook onesie for their youngsters are steering clear of more brash tees made by Cotton on Kids. The simple shirts have sayings from "The condom broke" to "Pardon my nipple breath" and "I'm living proof my mum is easy" to "Practice safe sex" scribbled across their chests. Some parents are saying the controversial tees have crossed the line and should be pulled from the market. What's your take?
Beyonce Likes Her Nephew So She Put a Shirt on Him
Earlier this week, Beyonce filled the role of favorite auntie with her sister, Solange's son, Julez. While the two spent quality time together shopping in Beverly Hills, the 4-year-old sported a "My Auntie Rocks" tee (you can get a onesie just like it here). Tops giving props to parents and family members have become increasingly popular over the years. Shirts have slogans from "My Dad's Mr. Wonderfull" to "Grandma's My Favorite" to "My Mom's Hot" and just about any other form of kudos you can imagine.
My own kids have received the sassy tees as gifts, but I've never felt comfortable having my 2-year-old wear the one that compliments me when we're out together. What's your opinion on this?
Lil Find: Pogo Stick Tee
Pogo sticks provided endless hours of entertainment for my siblings and friends when we were growing up, so I started jumping for joy (though I could never quite balance on the stick!) when I spotted this Pogo Stick tee ($20).
The casual top has a vintage-meets-skater-kid feel to it and is perfect for playdates. It may take a few tries to convince your modern kids to drop the Wii or take off the Heelys and hop on the good old Pogo stick, but I guarantee giggles when you do.
Check Out New Retailers on ShopStyle Kids!
I use ShopStyle Kids, the Sugar Inc. owned search engine for children's clothes and goods, which allows you to browse and shop without ever loading the kids in the car, more than I'd like to admit so I was thrilled to hear the site has added some of my favorite brands. You can now cruise collections from Children's Place, Japanese Weekend, Tutti Bella, Crazy 8, and Janie and Jack.
The weather across the US makes it hard to tell whether to purchase Winter or Spring clothes right now, which is why I love Tutti Bella's tee shirt selection. They are perfect for layering and add a little rocker edge to your lil one's look.
On Our Radar: Quiksilver's E.P.I.C. Eco-Friendly Initiative
Not only has Quiksilver created some cute eco-friendly clothes, they benefit an environmental initiative. The brand has teamed up with E.P.I.C., Everyday People Initiating Change, to support the nonprofit's Ripple Project. The Ripple Project helps eliminate the problematic lack of access to clean water in impoverished nations.
Quiksilver is becoming a force with its reintroduced women's line and a handbag collection. These products, including tees, dresses, and jackets, are made from eco-conscious materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, tencel, soy, and linen. Quiksilver will donate three percent of all sales of its women’s eco-friendly apparel to E.P.I.C. It should be easy to help support the cause — prices range from $44 to $148. Items can be bought online and in stores. Quite the epic endeavor.

Designer Spotlight: Ruby Republic
What does Ruby Republic love? Easy to tell — she wears it on her sleeve. Accordions, kisses, Bora Bora, love . . .
This brand specializes in screen tees that are far from obnoxiously cutesy. The message is girlie but the colors are serious. Quite a striking combination. If Ruby's likes match up with yours, get yourself a tee for $24 a pop. Shirts aren't the company's only talent; it also makes jeans, swimwear, and accessories like belts, bags, necklaces, and hair ties. These are just some of Ruby Republic's favorite things.

Simply Fab: American Apparel Unisex Thermochromatic T-Shirt
Some tees are plain, others are not. This American Apparel Unisex Thermochromatic Sheer Jersey T-Shirt ($34), is a far cry from plain Jane. Through the magical world of science, this tee will change different colors according to your body temperature. How fun!
The semisheer fabric is great for the warm weather and the price is nice; I think I'll take two. Didn't I tell you hypercolor is back?
