Etiquette Tips For Bringing Siblings to Birthday Parties

When it comes to birthday party etiquette, the question of whether to invite or bring along siblings is a common topic on Circle of Moms. Moms planning parties often want only the invited guests to come, while moms on the other end wonder what to do when child care is needed for the siblings, or how to explain why they can't go. If you, too, are wondering what to do when siblings aren't invited to birthday parties, then Circle of Moms members suggest you consider the following three guidelines on birthday party etiquette.
An Eloise-Inspired Hotel Birthday Bonanza
When True requested a hotel stay for her sixth birthday, mom Rubyellen was more than happy to oblige. "This idea of hers was inspired by her favorite book character, Eloise, who is six and lives at the Plaza Hotel," the crafty mama said. The mastermind behind Cakies, a gorgeous blog focused on DIY projects, family happenings, and incredible photographs, Rubyellen was sure to make the family outing extraspecial.
"We also asked her if she wanted a party and she said, 'Yes, just the six of us.' Other requests she had were swimming, watching My Little Pony in the room, and a vegetable cake. You shake up all the little requests she had in a box and this is what we came up with," Rubyellen said. Click through and enjoy the offbeat, bright birthday bash!
A Very Neon Second Birthday Bash!
When seven kids join forces to celebrate their second birthdays, and two of the moms are the masterminds behind stationery brand Hello! Lucky, it's bound to be a high-design, high-energy good time. Using on-trend neon as their theme, the bash was as beautiful as it was a blast. Take a peek behind the scenes of this thoroughly modern group soiree.

Hee Haw! A Cowgirl-Chic Birthday Party
We loved the idea of Jessica Simpson's Charlotte's Web-themed shower, but Jess, with this party, we've got you covered for your lil girl's first birthday bash. Jill of Peas & Thank You's created a cowgirl-chic birthday party for her daughter, Lulu, but it's got Daisy Duke written all over it. Check out all the amazing details — from the stitched-burlap invitation and gorgeous ruffle cake to the clever treats ("Dirty Apples!" and pearl-wearing hen cake balls, shown above) and petting zoo — and get ready to meet your inner cowgirl, 'cuz this party is going to bring her out! Hee haw!
A Blue Ombre Surf First Birthday Brunch
We recently showed you a supersweet, totally girlie first birthday bash, but this surf-inspired, all-blue, lil boy's birthday party is just as yummy. Photographer Ashley Rose created this brunch soiree for Crew's first birthday, and we're now loving the idea of a morning party.
With fun food stations like cereal and pancake bars (check out all the fun options and toppings!), and a cute drink area featuring chocolate milk shots for kiddos and mimosas for their chaperones, this party really has everything, in terms of both food and decor. Ombre, hand-painted place settings and cutlery, a kraft paper photo collage, and shark fin cake pops are all inspirational ideas, and if you need any other proof that this is one lucky 1-year-old, check out his new surfboard on the dessert bar; it was specially made for the birthday boy as a present from his mom and surf-loving dad. Keep reading for all the amazing details!
