When Guests Don't RSVP to Kids' Parties

What should you do if you don't receive many — or any — RSVPs for your child's birthday party?

What should you do if you don't receive many — or any — RSVPs for your child's birthday party?

Circle of Moms member Tonia G. says she's only received one RSVP to her 9-year-old son's party, and she sent invitations a week ago. "My boy is a great kid. I am sad for him," she says, wondering what to do now that there might be few friends around for the birthday celebration. Similarly, Laura says that no one has replied to the invite for her 6-year-old son's bowling birthday party. "I don't know what to do . . . I feel really bad for him."

If you, too, are singing the birthday blues because invitees haven't RSVP'd, then Circle of Moms members offer the following four tips.

A Too-Too Cute Tutus and Teacups Birthday Party

"I am a planner by nature and knew the day after my daughter’s first birthday that I wanted to do a teacups and tutu theme using soft pinks and oranges for her second," says Johanna Saucier, mom to 2-year-old Presley.

"I am a planner by nature and knew the day after my daughter’s first birthday that I wanted to do a teacups and tutu theme using soft pinks and oranges for her second," says Johanna Saucier, mom to 2-year-old Presley. "With that much time to plan, I kept adding details up to a week before her party. I believe it's the details that make a party memorable and unique."

"I incorporated teacups in the cake balls and printables and in real teacups purchased from flea market and used for floral arrangements," she continues. "I also wanted subtle and sweet touches of tulle, including the pom garland, tutus for each little girl, and tulle wands." But the details don't stop there. From a DIY dress-up closet and shabby-chic doily accents to a framed photo dessert table backdrop, there are so many ideas we want to steal from this party. Our favorite, though, has to be the tulle-topped ombré cakes that lined the party table. Simply "tutu" chic! Keep clicking to check out all the details of this inspired party. As Johanna says, "What little girl doesn't love to twirl around in a tutu?"

"His mommy is a wonderful lady with a great sense of style," Magdalena says. "She had a vision of what she wanted to do, and when I showed her the chevron fabric I had just purchased, she loved it. We found an invitation with an elephant, a red balloon, and a chevron pattern, and the rest of it just flowed from that." We're loving the modern color combination, along with the adorable cake, macaron towers, and awesome balloon cookies and cake pops, but not surprisingly, the birthday boy's favorite treat was his smash cake! A Little Gentleman's Bow-Tie First Birthday Party

Sometimes a party just captures us at the first glance, and in this case, we were sold the second we spotted this bow-tie-inspired first birthday's amazing invitations.

Sometimes a party just captures us at the first glance, and in this case, we were sold the second we spotted this bow-tie-inspired first birthday's amazing invitations. "I worked and worked on his invitations and could not for the life of me create something worthy of his very first birthday. I knew I wanted them to be tactile, not just a piece of paper. I wanted them to be Southern and sweet and with the personality of a playful little boy," says mom and designer Emily Ley.

Luckily, Emily has talented friends, including Amber Moon of Pitbulls and Posies, who dreamed up an adorable silhouette invite. "I took a photo of Brady with my iPhone and sent it to Amber, she traced his sweet little head, and created these little wooden silhouettes which she (by hand, no less!) screen-printed with the party information. She also designed and created box liners to hold the little silhouette."

The awesome invite introduced Brady's first birthday party in grand fashion, and the party itself was full of cute bow-tie details. "We decided we wanted it to be sweet and young and classic . . . so we chose a Southern Picnic theme and used bow ties to tie the entire affair together," Emily says. Keep clicking to check out all the details of the spectacular invites and the sweet party!
