GeoGirl, the forthcoming Walmart makeup line aimed at tweens, continues to cause a stir. Although some corners of the Web have been outraged by GeoGirl, this news clip instead focuses on two Oklahoma moms who aren't crazy about their daughters wearing makeup. "At this age," one says, "They just need to learn that they can be accepted for who they are, not how pretty they can make themselves be." Do you agree?
Wal-Mart to Launch Natural Tween Makeup Line
Soon there will be no reason for lil ones to beg, borrow, or steal from their mama's makeup bags! Sixty-four percent of LilSugar readers see no harm in letting their lil beauties get a professional manicure, but are they ready for them to build their own cosmetics collection?
The gap between play makeup and adult cosmetic lines is about to be filled with a tween-specific collection at Wal-Mart. GeoGirl, a paraben, phthalate, sulfates, and petrolatum-free line of natural lip glosses, blushes, eye shadows, and mascaras is set to hit stores later this month. Packaged in recyclable containers and bearing text message-friendly names like FYEO (For Your Eyes Only — a mascara), the sheer products aren't as color-heavy as their adult counterparts and will sell for less than $6 a piece. Each item will come with application instructions, as well as information about helping the environment. The store will donate a portion of all sale proceeds to GG-Gives, foundation that supports girl-empowering causes. Will tween-friendly makeup make its way into your home?
