This was my daughter Sarah's ladybug birthday party in December. I ordered (at least two months in advance) the party banner, goody bags, cupcake toppers, door sign, and little center pieces on Etsy. The colors were white red and black. Sarah's favorite part was her ladybug birthday cake. Overall she had a blast!

OnSugar Blog: Cookies, Cupcakes, and Comforters

Lots of women like to think out loud, and Dessert Doll is one of them.

Lots of women like to think out loud, and Dessert Doll is one of them. On her blog, the baker shows off her latest creations and talks about new trends.

A new craze called “bedtime story party” has risen among the children’s party circuit. I was quite unaware of any such party until I was asked to make cupcakes for one. The party consisted of children wearing pajamas and party tables decorated like beds. Although the whole concept just seemed alien to me, I must admit when the party came together it seemed pretty cute. As soon as I was told the theme was bedtime I thought what goes better with bedtime than milk and cookies.

After much deliberation I decided to make an Oreo Cookies and Milk Cupcake. After all, Oreos are milk's favorite cookie. The cupcake was a traditional vanilla cake with cool ribbons of cookies and cream pudding. The pudding was made with our delicious homemade pudding recipe and crushed Oreos, it represented the milk. The cupcake was frosted with a whipped vanilla butter cream and topped with a mini Oreo cookie.

Everyone seemed to enjoy it, even the rowdy 3-year-olds at the party.

Bug out on baby's birthday!
Ladybug Birthday Party

Bug out on baby's birthday! A LilSugar Twitter follower recently asked for ideas on throwing a ladybug birthday bash for a one year old. There are lots of black and red bug birthday decorations to choose from, but why not make your ladybug the center of attention and throw a garden themed fete with flowers, green grass, and legged confetti crawling throughout?

Happy Birthday Cream Puffs

For an alternative to birthday cake that's even easier than boxed mix, OnSugar blog Fresh Tart suggests whipping up homemade cream puffs.

For an alternative to birthday cake that's even easier than boxed mix, OnSugar blog Fresh Tart suggests whipping up homemade cream puffs.

We kicked off my son's 14th birthday celebration(s) with cream puffs for dessert tonight.  Few desserts are as festive and impressive as cream puffs - who doesn't love them?  They're so creamy...and puffy.  (Yeah, sorry, I'm a little tired this evening.  Suffice it to say they're seriously good.)

And here's a little secret...they're one of the easiest desserts on the planet to make.  It's true, I swear.  With a mixer and nothing more than water, butter, flour, and eggs, they take about 10 minutes to whip up, 30 minutes to bake. Less effort than a box of cake mix and a million times more fun.

Outdoor Birthday Party Ideas

With two cold weather babies, I've always envied mamas who could plan an outdoor birthday party and take advantage of their backyards and local parks. Wide open spaces and nature as a backdrop make the great outdoors ideal for water games, messy projects, and sporting events, and best of all, they can be done at a fraction of the price of indoor ones due to the lack of rental fees. We've put together 10 outdoor parties that are sure to keep tots entertained during warm weather months.

A Bodacious Baseball Birthday Bash

Spring training may be just around the corner, but the crack of a bat against a ball can keep lil ones entertained year-round.
Baseball Birthday Party Ideas

Spring training may be just around the corner, but the crack of a bat against a ball can keep lil ones entertained year-round. When my baseball fanatic turned four, we didn't let the cold Winter months dampen his team spirit. Rather, we planned an all-star indoor bash for the lil slugger and his friends. With an indoor batting cage facility as the venue of choice, the party started with some warm-ups, a few drills and then a scrimmage between the guests. Check out this slideshow for tips on how to plan your own themed party.
