Tori Spelling's Favorite Bite-Size Shower Appetizers

We're excited to bring you a new post from mother and actress Tori Spelling!

We're excited to bring you a new post from mother and actress Tori Spelling! Every other week, we bring you the best parenting and lifestyle advice from ediTORIal by Tori Spelling, Tori's daily blog about everything from food and fashion to parenting and relationships. This week, Tori shares mini appetizers for your baby shower.

When I think of April showers, rain is the last thing on my mind. We do get a little drizzle here and there in sunny Southern California, but as far as showers go, April tends to be the beginning of wedding and baby shower season. I love spring showers because the weather is just warm enough to throw a backyard brunch or afternoon shindig — full of superyummy hors d'oeuvres!

If you’ve read my book CelebraTORI, then you know that I’m all about making everything mini. Taking a classic recipe and shrinking it down into appetizer size is an uber chic way to serve food for any occasion. Appetizers are especially important for showers, as they’ll most likely be sitting out for a long period of time while people rotate between the food table, cocktails and fussing over the expecting mama- or bride-to-be. For this reason, it's important to serve food that can sit out at room temperature yet still maintain its almost-too-cute-to-eat presentation. I also suggest serving foods you know people will like. A fancy shmancy salmon steak atop a bed of spinach may be classy, but who doesn’t love a couple of good, old-fashioned cocktail weenies (which also happen to be much kinder on your wallet)?

Now, in case you’re still stuck on what to make, I thought I'd give you a little #foodspiration and share some of my personal favorites. Here are nine Spring shower appetizers I always keep in my back pocket . . .

This week, Tori shares her final minutes before giving birth to baby Finn.

From the moment we got to the hospital in preparation of Finn’s big arrival, I was a nervous wreck. We had a scheduled C-section, and even though I'd been through this three times before, I was a mess. Superanxious, totally scared, dreading surgery, and thinking the worst.

Luckily, I had Dean and Mehran (my two husbands) with me, along with my amazing friend and doctor (Dr. J) and my wonderful nurse Mykel (who was also my nurse when I was a resident in the hospital for those long months during the pregnancy) who did a great job of calming this pregger down and assuring me that everything would be OK.

After an hour or so, it was finally time to head into the operating room and welcome Finn into this world. I'm so happy Mehran was there to catch this video message to Liam, Stella, and Hattie as Dean and I headed into surgery where we would finally meet our little man . . .

Every other week, we bring you the best parenting and lifestyle advice from ediTORIal by Tori Spelling, Tori's daily blog about everything from food and fashion to parenting and relationships. This week, Tori shares an adorable Valentine for class parties.

Today is your lucky day because one of my fave craftistas is back again with a super cute and timely Valentine’s Day craft! The one and only Jenny Dixon of Craft That Party has put together an adorable and super original V-Day craft for us that'll definitely make you want to get your DIY on. It's Jenny's "Call Me Maybe" Valentine. Take it away Jenny...

Foodista: Sweet treats for Valentine's Day

Have you heard the song "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen? The popular song inspired Rebekah of A Blissful Nest to create a fun Valentine's Day Party Collection and dessert table to match. I instantly fell in love with the teal/pink stripes and retro gold phone and knew I had to work this theme into our Valentines this year! Feeling inspired by the collection, I decided to make Valentines using chocolate "telephone numbers" as an edible, fun version of "here's my number" . . .

How Did You Feel When Your Last Pregnancy Was Over?

We're excited to bring you a new post from mother and actress Tori Spelling!

This week, Tori shares her final moments before giving birth to her fourth child.

Now that we were officially on our "Baby-Cation", we were getting closer and closer to welcoming Finn into our family. The morning of Finn's arrival (we had a scheduled C-section, so we knew exactly when we'd meet our littlest one) I had a million thoughts and feelings running through my head. While I was super excited to welcome our newest babe into the family, I was totally caught off-guard by how sad I was that this would be my last morning ever as a pregnant woman.

With Liam & Stella, I knew after each pregnancy that Dean and I wanted to have more kids. Although I was sad when those pregnancies ended (It may be weird, but I love being pregnant), I knew that we'd eventually have more kids. When we had Hattie, we thought that we probably wanted one more babe, if we were lucky enough to be blessed with one, so I held out hope that I would get to wear my bump proud one more time.

But with Finn, both Dean and I knew that this was probably it for us in the baby-making department. Since Finn's pregnancy was so difficult and dangerous, we knew that if we could make it through this one and make it to the finish line with a happy and healthy baby, that our family would be complete. So there was a sense of sadness when I woke up on the morning of Finn's big arrival, because I knew that this was the last time that I would ever have one of my sweet babes in my belly.

Now don't get me wrong… I was so excited to meet baby, and was so proud that we had made it to the finish line together … I just wanted to keep him in my belly a little longer!

How did you feel when your last pregnancy was over? Were you sad that this was the last time you'd be a pregger? Or did you feel relieved?

Every other week, we bring you the best parenting and lifestyle advice from ediTORIal by Tori Spelling, Tori's daily blog about everything from food and fashion to parenting and relationships. This week, Tori shares a fun Winter craft activity.

During the kids' Winter break from school, we had a lot of time at home together, which meant one thing — lots and lots of crafting! Luckily, DIY-ing is in my DNA because Liam and Stella (and sometimes even Hattie) love nothing more than to spend an afternoon crafting. Whether they're making Christmas ornaments, shrinky dinks, decor for Finn's nursery, or tie-dye tanks, my babes craft their little hearts out every chance they get.

So when they were home from school and had tons of time on their hands, the first thing we did (after recovering from the flu/food coma) was break out the crafting supplies. We thought long and hard about what to make and came up with two ideas that would be perfect for the holidays, but ones that we could also display around the house throughout winter.

Do your kids love the marshmallows more than the hot chocolate? If the answer is yes, then here is a sugar-free alternative . . . Play with your hot chocolate instead of drinking it! Hot chocolate play dough is easy to make and smells superdelicious. I have included a five-minute recipe, but if you are too busy to make your own, then just add 1/8 cup of unsweetened cocoa to a container of brown play dough. Either way you make it, hot chocolate play dough is a great indoor activity, classroom gift, or holiday party favor!
