Get ready for some more changes in the Gosselin household. While Jon and Kate work out the details of their divorce, the network that airs the show, TLC, just announced that the program will take a new direction this Fall. Jon will no longer be a fixture on the televised portion of the children's lives and the show is being renamed Kate Plus Eight beginning in November.
The twins and sextuplets will continue to be the focus of the program with Kate's new life as a single mother receiving more air time. Since the couple's separation, the mama has told audiences that she is learning to do things on her own – like setting up camping tents and taking all of the youngsters on a beach vacation. The eyes may be the windows to our souls, so it's important to maintain their health and development. Though pediatricians and schools test a youngster's vision during annual check-ups, the American Optometric Association recommends thorough eye examinations by the age of 3 to ensure that vision is properly developing and there are no indications of eye disease. Once that exam is complete, wee ones can wait until their fifth birthday before returning for another exam.
From the looks of it, Kate Gosselin took five of her sextuplets to their doctor this week, where they likely underwent eye exams. The group left wearing protective sunglasses that will surely be used for fun fare when the dilation wears off at home. Do you take your wee ones for routine eye exams?

It looks like Jon and Kate Plus 8 is minus two . . . dogs. Our girl Pet has pictures of Jon's last moments with the pups before they were shipped back to their breeder. The tensome adopted the German Shepherds, Shooka and Nala, as an early Christmas present for the kids late last year. But, in light of Jon and Kate's impending divorce, it's been reported that single parenthood and caring for a couple of dogs is too much for the Gosselins. While the twins and sextuplets are obviously affected by their mom and dad's very public breakup, is it fair to also send their pets away?

There aren't any elephants in the room on The View! Guest host Kate Gosselin was again put on the spot this morning when Dr. Phil made an appearance on the show. In an interview last week, Jon said that his soon-to-be ex and the television personality had tried to wrangle him into couple's therapy that ended up being more like an image-saving session for their series, Jon and Kate Plus 8. Barbara Walters addressed the controversy and the doctor replied that he had no comment since it was a personal meeting between friends. Kate also kept her cool (sporting a new, cute sassy hairstyle) saying she appreciated Dr. Phil and his wife Robin's help over the years. Something tells me that the mom of eight is going to be named one of Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
