While many of us were stuffing ourselves with turkey and spending a leisurely weekend with loved ones, the first family was a busy bunch, taking on Thanksgiving duties and prepping for Christmas at the White House.
Festivities kicked off with President Barack Obama, and daughters Sasha and Malia, pardoning two lucky turkeys — Cobbler and its alternate, Gobbler — who will spend the rest of the holidays on display at George Washington's Mount Vernon estate. After accompanying dad at the annual event, the girls also joined the president on "Small Business Saturday" (an alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday) at a bookstore in Arlington, VA. First Lady Michelle Obama got in on the family time when the Obamas served food together on Thanksgiving Eve at the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington DC. Then she had Sasha and Malia's help — as well as the family's dog, Bo — when giving her approval of the White House Christmas tree upon its arrival by horse-drawn carriage.
