He verged into some potentially awkward territory when he tried to end the feud between Drake and Chris Brown, both of whom went on to win awards later. Kevin even leaped to Kristen Stewart's defense in his opening riff about mistakes. Katy Perry popped up to present the first award, best pop video, to One Direction.
