Babes Stroll in Maclaren's Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine

Lil ones can "sail on to the sun" in their own version of a yellow submarine starting next month. Forty-five-year-old British stroller king Maclaren is moving beyond its experience collaborating with high-end designers and turning its attention to legendary musicians like the Beatles.

The special edition Yellow Submarine Maclaren Quest stroller ($280) features a bright yellow seat, denim hood, reversible psychedelic print liner, and an adorable bubble print rain cover. Images from the iconic film are embroidered on the hood, seat back, and liner and a spiffy matching foot muff is sold separately. The buggy, which will be sold by major retailers in September, is built onto the Quest frame, similar to the BabyGap, Jacadi, and Lulu Guinness versions before it. With a funky design like this, it's only a matter of time before tots will be asking mama to play the Sgt. Pepper's album backwards!

Advantage Maclaren! The World Cup may continue, but with the US team out of the picture, the fanfare may be dying down in some homes. Never fear, Grand Slam tennis is here.

With Wimbledon in full swing for the rest of the week, the British stroller company is introducing a tennis-themed pushchair liner designed for the ultimate grass-court fan. The inexpensive Sports Fan (Tennis) Liner ($25) features faux suede material embroidered with a tennis ball and court and fits all single-seat Maclaren strollers. For now, the reversible liner is only available in the UK, but it is scheduled to make its stateside debut in August, just in time for the US Open. And for those soccer fans whose teams are still playing, the buggy company is also offering a soccer version of the liner in the UK.

Biggest Headlines of 2009: Maclaren Recall

While the Stork Craft recall might have been the biggest crib recall in US history, it was the Maclaren recall headline that caught the attention of LilSugar readers.

While the Stork Craft recall might have been the biggest crib recall in US history, it was the Maclaren recall headline that caught the attention of LilSugar readers. The British company responsible for making the simple buggies voluntarily recalled their products and issued repair kits to keep young fingers safe from the faulty hinges. While many mamas own the pushchairs, it seems only a quarter of our Maclaren owners were actually going to put them to rest. The argument? It seems like most any stroller, doorway, or drawer could inflict the same harm. If anything, it serves as a good reminder to keep a watchful eye on those wee extremities!

Are You Ignoring the Maclaren Recall?

Recall? Who cares?! When recalls are announced, some people run back to the store to get their money back, but others keep on keeping on with their less than perfect goods.

Recall? Who cares?! When recalls are announced, some people run back to the store to get their money back, but others keep on keeping on with their less than perfect goods. Such is the case with many a Maclaren pushing mommies. As I strolled about town yesterday, I couldn't help but notice the dominance of the British buggies rolling around in San Francisco — yours truly included. All different models with varying ages of children made their way through small spaces and tight sidewalks. While some mothers might have stopped using their recalled models, some clearly have no problem pushing the popular, if hazardous, strollers. When asked about their continued use, some declared they were more cautious when folding and collapsing it because of the hinge issue. Others said they called for the hinge repair kit while others threw caution to the wind saying there are probably dangers with every pushchair on the market... touché.

Are you taking the recall to heart or just using your stroller with caution?
