Sneak Peek: H&M's New All For Children Charity Collection Is Full of Sophisticated Surprises

There's nothing better than knowing that your purchases are helping a cause.

There's nothing better than knowing that your purchases are helping a cause. Last year, we didn't think things could get any better than H&M's All For Children collection, but that's because we hadn't seen this year's designs. On Oct. 18, the Swedish retailer will introduce its 2012 All For Children collection to benefit UNICEF at 300 stores worldwide.

While the collection includes dressed-up designs like a pink bow-detail dress, a fake-fur necktie coat, and printed tops for girls, as well as blazers and colorblocked sweaters for boys, it's the costumes and fantasy pieces that we're drooling over now. Wizard hats, magic wands, rabbit ears (and scarves), and flamingo heads are the perfect Halloween accessories for kids who don't want to go the commercial route this year. And the wall stickers and playbook just add to the fun.

As it did last year, H&M will donate 25 percent of the sale of each garment to UNICEF's work in Bangladesh to promote education and improve children's health in the slum areas around Dhaka, including those that help make the discount department store's clothes.

To help kick off the collection, H&M will host celebratory events in New York and Chicago on Oct. 18 and in Los Angeles on Oct. 20, with food, music, face painting, and the opportunity for kids to create their own iconic UNICEF Trick or Treat boxes.

Keep reading for a sneak peek at the collection, and visit H&M's site for more details about the initiative.

Bikini Onesie: Kid-Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Have you seen the "bikini onesie" that's causing controversy in Southaven, MS?

Have you seen the "bikini onesie" that's causing controversy in Southaven, MS? Here's a photo of the (sort of?) scandalous outfit, manufactured by Bon Bebe's "Wildchild" line.

Local residents' reactions included everything from "I feel it's very inappropriate for an 18-month-old girl" to "I just think people overreact to stupid stuff, I don't take offense to it at all," according to reports from Memphis, TN's Action News 5.

While the headline-making bikini style has been pulled from the site, other questionably tasteful options by the same manufacturer include a black onesie with a graphic of tattooed fists reading "Tuff Baby" and another that says "My Mom is the Bomb" — complete with an image of a not-so-baby-friendly bomb.

The Wildchild collection isn't the first we've ever seen of questionable kids' clothes, but it certainly is causing a stir in Mississippi, where it was being sold at Gordman's, a family department store where the tagline, ironically, is "Something Unexpected."

Miniature Milk Milk-Fiber Clothing: Kid-Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Sure, your baby often sports a milk-covered face, but would you cover his entire body in milk?

Sure, your baby often sports a milk-covered face, but would you cover his entire body in milk? That's exactly what Miniature Milk, a brand-new eco-friendly infant clothing line, suggests. The New York-based company debuts a layette collection this week, and the cow-print rompers, onesies, striped bibs, beanies, and blankets (prices range from $15 to $60) are all made from organic cotton and — get this — milk fiber, a protein that's extracted from cow’s milk.

According to Miniature Milk, milk fiber is perfect for baby clothing because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities. "We wanted to create a simple and stylish range of baby clothes that not only looks great but also incorporates a fabric that has positive attributes for the sensitive skin of babies," said Jamie Archer-Perkins, founder of Miniature Milk, in a press release. So would you let your baby drink his milk . . . and wear it, too?

And the countdown begins! We're just 10 days away from the highly anticipated launch of the Diane von Furstenberg for Baby Gap and Gap Kids collection, and the anticipation is growing. The capsule collection — much like the one Stella McCartney created for the retail giant a few years ago — is piquing the interest of moms and kids alike. Over the weekend, the designer— who shared her thoughts on being a grandmother with us last year — debuted pieces from the line at a celebrity mom and tot-attended event. Alyson Hannigan, Tiffani Thiessen, Jessica Capshaw, Milla Jovovich, and an expectant Molly Sims joined Diane von Furstenberg for a sneak peek at the baby wrap dresses, printed onesies, and mini sunglasses, all featuring iconic DVF patterns. Check out photos from the event now and stay tuned for images from the complete collection later this week!
