A Sweet (Really Sweet!) Gender-Reveal Baby Shower For DC Cupcakes' Katherine Kallinis Berman
It's really no surprise that Katherine Kallinis Berman's baby shower was filled with sugar. With her sister Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, Katherine is the co-owner of Georgetown Cupcake and the co-star of TLC's DC Cupcakes, so we pretty much expected her baby shower to be filled with sweet treats and adorable decor. What we didn't expect was a luncheon that pretty much redefines our image of a rubber-ducky-themed party for a mom-to-be.
With her sister due in March, Sophie turned to LA event planner Sharon Sacks to help plan a "Rubber Ducky Cupcake"-themed shower. "I wanted the shower to be baby-themed but, at the same time, still elegant. This was the first baby for either of us, and I wanted the event to feel very special and celebratory," Sophie says. "So, I decided to put a twist on the traditional baby rubber duck baby shower by hosting it in a beautiful English garden rooftop setting with formal yellow-and-white linens and floral centerpieces for the decor. I also created a giant rubber ducky out of thousands of minicupcakes for a centerpiece and placed it in a garden pool in the center of the garden. It was gorgeous!"
We couldn't agree more! Keep reading to see all the amazing details, how Katherine found out if she's having a boy or a girl, and which cupcakes the mom-to-be has been craving throughout her pregnancy!

What's It Going to Bee: Party Announces Baby's Sex
It's not all about the 20-week ultrasound anymore! More and more parents are planning gender reveal parties to find out their baby's sex and share the excitement with family and friends. While some mamas-to-be wait until the child debuts to find out if they should buy pink or blue, others embrace the excuse to party before delivery!
Some moms and dads have the ultrasound technician write the child's sex on a slip of paper that is placed in an envelope. It's then dropped off at a bakery where a cake is baked in the appropriate color and iced to hide the news. When the parents-to-be cut into the sweet treat, they learn about their future offspring. The idea gained national attention when Josh and Anna Duggar cut into a pink cake on the Today Show to learn that they were having a girl. The concept is gaining momentum as more couples opt to hold soirees to celebrate their impending offspring.
