An Eloise-Inspired Hotel Birthday Bonanza

When True requested a hotel stay for her sixth birthday, mom Rubyellen was more than happy to oblige.

When True requested a hotel stay for her sixth birthday, mom Rubyellen was more than happy to oblige. "This idea of hers was inspired by her favorite book character, Eloise, who is six and lives at the Plaza Hotel," the crafty mama said. The mastermind behind Cakies, a gorgeous blog focused on DIY projects, family happenings, and incredible photographs, Rubyellen was sure to make the family outing extraspecial.

"We also asked her if she wanted a party and she said, 'Yes, just the six of us.' Other requests she had were swimming, watching My Little Pony in the room, and a vegetable cake. You shake up all the little requests she had in a box and this is what we came up with," Rubyellen said. Click through and enjoy the offbeat, bright birthday bash!

OnSugar Blog: Eloise at the Plaza

Lots of moms like to think out loud and PatiBF is one of them.

Lots of moms like to think out loud and PatiBF is one of them. She's sharing the latest post from her Baby Style blog about the Eloise suite at the Plaza hotel. It looks like Sarah isn't the only lil girl to love the precocious tot!

Last summer the Eloise Suite debuted at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. If your little girl is a fan of the famed Eloise series, a chance to stay in Eloise's very own suite designed by fashion icon Betsey Johnson would be a dream come true. Of course, the dream will cost you, a night at the preciously pink plaza suite starts at $1,125. For those looking for more reasonable options you can swing by the Eloise gift shop at The Plaza and even enjoy an Eloise tea party! Sounds like fun to me.

OnSugar Blog: Sarah Loves Eloise

Lots of moms like to think out loud, and inbliss01 is one of them. This is the latest post to her My Joy and My Delight blog.

My little princess loves Eloise! Eloise is a six-year-old girl who lives in the "room on the tippy-top floor" of the Plaza Hotel in New York with her nanny, her pug dog Weenie, and her turtle Skipperdee. The series of books were written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight. Sarah has seen the animated movies and the real-life movies Eloise at the Plaza and Eloise at Christmas Time. Earlier this year we visited Eloise's wonderful shop at The Plaza Hotel in New York City and it was a wonderful experience for Sarah. She was so happy and didn't want to leave the store! I am really considering throwing her an Eloise themed birthday party this year even though I know it will be a challenge. What I would really like to do is see if we can actually stay for the night and have the "Eloise" experience at The Plaza and even stay at the Eloise suite designed by Betsey Johnson. (It will be a dream if I can actually pull it off!!)

Betsey Johnson's Eloise-Themed Plaza Suite Opens Its Doors!

Back in September, I announced that Betsey Johnson would be diving headfirst into her first hotel collaboration, designing an Eloise-themed suite for The Plaza Hotel. Now, the time has finally come, and the pinker-than-pink two-bedroom suite has officially opened its doors! Dressed with sweet pink candy striped wallpaper, gilded French chairs and headboards upholstered in the designer's signature rose prints, girlish dangly crystal chandeliers, tutus hanging in the closet, and framed portraits of Kay Thompson's fabled protagonist, the suite is every little girl's dream. And a dream come true it can be — for a price. A stay in the luxury suite for as many as four little Fifth Avenue princesses runs $995 a night, and includes a monogrammed Eloise bathrobe, a $100 gift card to the hotel's Eloise gift shop, an Eloise camera, a framed photo of the guest inside the suite, and an Eloise book. Chaperones can book the adjoining room for a total of $2,045, and be treated to champagne and truffles. Oh — what I would have given!

10 Tips For Teaching Your Children Manners and Why

Money can't buy manners, but it can afford some lessons! Lisa Taylor Richey, The Official Etiquette Ambassador for The Plaza Hotel in New York City offers children a week-long course (15 hours of instruction in everything from holding a fork to a offering to perfecting the handshake) at Charm School with Eloise for $495. Fees for the charm school include an Eloise handbook, a catered meal, a favor bag, a placemat, custom thank-you notes, and a daily cheat sheet for parents. We asked the founder of The American Academy of Etiquette to give us 10 tips to help moms teach their children manners and why the specific acts are important. Richey believes, "manners make you feel more confident and when you feel confident you become a leader." Check out her tips.

Betsey Johnson to Design an Eloise-Inspired Suite at the Plaza

Betsey Johnson is diving headfirst into her first hotel collaboration with a suite inspired by Kay Thompson's Eloise for New York's most prestigious address, The Plaza Hotel.

Betsey Johnson is diving headfirst into her first hotel collaboration with a suite inspired by Kay Thompson's Eloise for New York's most prestigious address, The Plaza Hotel. Once the dust of New York Fashion Week settles, she is due to begin designing a two-bedroom suite in the character's signature pink-and-black palette. This shouldn't be much of a stretch for the designer, who dressed her own Manhattan penthouse in head-to-toe pink (shown left). The suite, as you might expect, will balance Johnson's notoriously wild style with the Plaza's brand of luxury, and should be a treat for adults and young guests alike. Of the collaboration, Johnson has said:

I'm tickled pink to be designing the Eloise Suite at the Plaza. When I recently moved uptown and my first granddaughter was born, I rediscovered Eloise and hoped that something magical would happen between me and my favorite hotel. This is the perfect pink combo!

Can't wait to see it! Would you like to stay in Johnson's Eloise-inspired suite?

Who Should Play Eloise?

First of all: There's going to be a feature-length film version of Eloise in Paris, based on the beloved children's book all about the precocious and privileged little six-year-old New Yorker, Eloise.

First of all:
There's going to be a feature-length film version of Eloise in Paris, based on the beloved children's book all about the precocious and privileged little six-year-old New Yorker, Eloise.

Secondly:
The movie will be written and directed by Charles Shyer, co-writer of such beloved movies as Father of the Bride and Baby Boom. What's more, his writing partner will be his 19-year-old daughter, Annie Meyers-Shyer, who he has with his screenwriter wife Nancy Meyers (who helped Shyer write the aforementioned movies, who is responsible for The Holiday, and who recently won an award).

How cute is that?
A father-daughter team writing an Eloise movie? Adorable. However, I can't quite get over the fact that the two screenwriters decided to hyphenate their kid's last name so it is Meyers-Shyer.

Now for the big question:
Who should play Eloise? The books have already made it to ABC as TV movies, but this is the big screen. Come on, expert Buzz recasters, start naming Eloise possibilities!
