As new moms will quickly learn, there's a fine line between baby shoes that look adorable — but are more or less useless — and those that actually stay on an early toddler's tiny feet. The trick is to find a pair that stays secure around the ankle — whether with elastic, a higher cut, or Velcro straps that keep everything in place. Here, seven practical pairs that will actually stay put . . . and don't look half bad, either!
I recently ran into Cole Haan to pick up a pair of black patent wedges that were to become my Fall shoe of choice when the cutest lil thing caught my eye. In honor of their 80th anniversary, the company has come out with a line of crib shoe penny loafers ($50). The four designs are perfectly suited for prepsters in the making with classic black and brown versions, as well as red or brown suede ones too. Securing these as my new obsession are the soles of the shoes that are imprinted with "Pennies from Heaven."
We're in luck though — we don't just have to dream about the company supersizing these lil darlings, the crib shoe collection is a shrunken version of Cole Haan's classic shoes. So the originals are available in mommy sizes.
