See how far you can stretch that dollar.
Baby Items That Grow With Your Child 2009-08-16 06:00:00

See how far you can stretch that dollar. New parents spend a lot of dough on products that are typically designed to last a matter of months. Some manufacturers are aware of the frustration parents feel when their lil ones outgrow the crib, high chair, or swing that they spent their hard-earned money on, and are designing items that evolve as the children grow. From infant recliners that convert into high chairs to changing tables that turn into homework desks, check out six items that will stay in your home for more than one year and can be used for multiple children.

Agyness Deyn Inspires a Nail Polish Color

Model Agyness Deyn is famous for her shock of platinum-blond hair, but at least one beauty product is more interested in her fingernails.

Model Agyness Deyn is famous for her shock of platinum-blond hair, but at least one beauty product is more interested in her fingernails. Australian cosmetics brand Bloom has released a limited-edition nail polish called Agyness (about $15). It's around only for a little while, and to get it, you'd have to order from Down Under. While Agyness Deyn hasn't been spotted wearing her namesake color, the matte shade of wet-concrete gray is quirky and unusual. Kind of like the model herself.

Pimp Your Crib: Bloom Otto Table

I love the idea of creating a space for my daughter and her friends to color, have a tea party and play games.

I love the idea of creating a space for my daughter and her friends to color, have a tea party and play games. But finding room for a table and chairs set often seems like a luxury when space and design are concerns. Most folding tables and chairs feature kiddie designs that don't mesh well with a modern nursery.

Bloom's Otto table and chairs ($450) should catch the eye of mod tot moms given its clean, eco-friendly look. The set, which is designed for kids 18 months and older, features ergonomic chairs that nest within the table, along with two - dishwasher-safe - sliding plastic art trays designed to keep paintbrushes, crayons and markers neatly put away. Made from cultivated stylewood with a low VOC finish, the set is lead, BPA, PVC and phthalates-free and just may encourage your child to put things away.

Ooh La La Liquid Lipsticks, Part I

Yesterday I told you about Laura Mercier Stickgloss, which is packaged like lipstick but wears like a gloss.

Yesterday I told you about Laura Mercier Stickgloss, which is packaged like lipstick but wears like a gloss. These liquid lipsticks are the opposite: On your lips, they have the opaque finish of a lipstick, but they go on like lip gloss — without all the gooey-ness. Welcome to Part I of my two-part series on liquid lipsticks. I think you'll find that they're silky smooth and last much longer than glosses.

Liquid Lipstick by Bloom ($22) has a creamy texture with lots of shine. This moisturizing lip color has a cool twisty feature that releases just a enough color to coat your lips. The lipstick is scented with vanilla and orange and is available in six shades: Jasmine (tangerine), Daisy (champagne), Lily (taupe), Rose (shimmery plum), Blossom (shimmer pink), and Iris (bronze).
