Don't forget to come Lil Marking With Me!
I'd love for all you cautious parents to share your favorite sunscreen for your kids by bookmarking your finds on TeamSugar. Don't forget to tag your finds as "sunscreen for kids." I'll do a recap next week of your picks.
Any new mom will tell you dealing with the logistics of feeding your baby are more important than how your breasts are costumed, but that doesn't solve the great nursing bra dilemma. You still have to worry about leaking, accessibility, comfort and adjusting to life as a lactating woman. Usually, all that criterion leaves little space for style or sexiness.
Luckily, we mothers have former supermodel and mommy Elle Macpherson on our side. Her nursing bras, which retail for about $62, aim to be "as sleek and sexy as your pre-maternity bras." The cups are made of delicate lace with a cotton lining.
You brace yourself when your tot takes a tumble, but you never acknowledge the bumps and bruises that are inevitable as a parent. There are the ones you notice — when your wee one flips back her head as you look down and the bridge of your nose stings so badly your eyes fill — and, then there are the ones you are oblivious to like the toe marks on your stomach made by aspiring acrobats jumping across your midsection in such glee that you don't feel the painful indentations.
I rarely remember the gashes I get lunging across a playground structure to grab my son before he jumps off the side; Or, count the times I've whacked my forehead wrangling my kids into their carseats and hoisting the stroller into the tailgate. It's when I glance in a dressing room mirror and catch the colorful spots, scrapes and scratches that periodically appear on my body that I try to recall what it was like when I was childless and a box of band-aids lasted me several years. It's almost impossible. I'd much rather have the crushing hugs and tickle attacks that come with the noticeable imperfections. Source
Traditionally, a woman took her husband's surname and their offspring followed suit. But, these days all different combinations of people make up families and that is reflected in the variety of options that parents have when choosing their child's last name. Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani went old school when they named their son. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie combined their monikers with a hyphen for their mini mes. And, Bridget Moynahan gave her babe middle names for his father, Tom Brady, but made him a Moynahan. Source and Bauer-Griffin
Actor Chris O'Donnell is known for his all-American looks and charm so it seems fitting that he and his wife, Caroline, dress their adorable children in unpretentious, but classic style. The three oldest O'Donnell kids showed up to the premiere of their dad's new family film Kit Kittredge: An American Girl looking like they had just stepped off the yacht and I love them for it. Lily, 8, walked the press line in a darling yellow number, while Chip, 7, and Charlie, 4, went for comfortable, pairing jeans with Crewcuts blazers, Ralph Lauren shirts, jeans and white Converse.
The moment I found out I was pregnant I was hit with a wave of questions and concerns: Do I tell my boss? Am I going to get morning sickness? And, naturally, what will it be like to be a mother? Next, I was overwhelmed by the complicated words and phrases my doctor started casually dropping into our conversation. I soon learned there's a unique language reserved for pregnancy, labor and child rearing that they just don't teach us growing up.
It's a language that can be picked up quickly and makes perfect sense as soon as you open up pregnancy books and start talking to other parents. How well do you know the pregnancy ABCs? Take my quiz (it's one of many, I promise!) and find out!
For every family that lives in a three story walk up or isn't overjoyed with weekly jaunts to Costco, there's Diapers.com, the one stop online shop where you can order baby goodies (even green ones!) to be delivered to your door in a few days. So stock up on diapers, wipes, baby wash, bottles, cups, organic food, mommy products and other merchandise without ever leaving the house or having to clear out your trunk. And, if you're traveling this summer, you can have your order shipped to your destination so you don't have to worry about paying for extra bags on airlines.
Gone are the days of hunting down your favorite green brands like — Seventh Generation, Tushies Tender Care, Earth's Best Baby Food, Born Free baby bottles and Dapple cleaning agents — at your local stores. This Eco-friendly mecca has it all and more, for a fair price. Orders over $49 are shipped free of charge. Last week, I ordered a case of diapers, wipes and bath wash for my son which arrived two days later. I can't believe I didn't use this service sooner. For postpartum mommies and those with a few tots in tow, it cuts down on run around time which can be better spent with your babes.
