Very few children can resist a sugar temptation. I try to make my dessert treats healthy by offering fruit instead of candies. This Fourth of July, satisfy your tot's sweet tooth with a patriotic kebab that serves up fresh fruit, Vitamin C and antioxidants all in one. Pile strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peeled apples and bananas onto a skewer for a healthy dose of red, white and blue. If you want to bend the rules a tad, add in mini marshmallows. Serve them as a sweet or snack.
The sign of an accomplished mother is an independent child. Like mama birds encouraging their babies to fly the nest, you put time, effort and love into your kids so they will be able to fend for themselves. When did you first realize your child didn't need you as much? Source
The concept of a gift registry makes sense — visit your favorite stores, make a list of all of your gift preferences and have friends and family buy them for you so you don't have to spend your time returning unwanted and duplicate items. Wedding registries are common practice these days, having been around since Chicago's Marshall Field's department store created them in 1924.
If first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a baby carriage, it is no surprise that baby registries were the next thing. Every time a celebrity announces she is pregnant there seems to be news about whether she has registered for pink or blue items. With so many bottles, cribs, swings and baby carriers on the market, it is no wonder pregnant women state their preferences.
Thomas Beatie, who garnered media attention as the "pregnant man," gave birth to a baby girl today! Beatie and his wife, Nancy, have not disclosed the method of delivery. The child is Thomas's first. Nancy has two daughters from a previous relationship. Congratulations to the family!
Nobody booking a cross-country flight with a toddler thinks they are in for an easy trip. As I told you last week, my last trip was filled with airline delays and track and field moves to get me to my gate on time. While you can't control traffic delays and TSA bottlenecks, you can make the trip easier for your tot and your fellow travelers by filling your carry-on with projects and toys that make time pass a little faster.
