I relish in showering my friends with gifts and love in preparation for new life. From invitations to balloons, cupcakes, swaddling blankets and candy bars, the whole baby shower planning experience gets me giddy.
One thing I won't incorporate into my expecting baby festivities? Fetus shaped cookies! While I am sure there is a way to make the babes cute, it's just a tad on the creepy side for me. But tell me, what do you think about the dessert shaping items?
Mother of three and a beauty to boot, Nicole Kidman was honored with a Glamour Women of the Year Award on Monday night. In her speech, the Australian beauty made her love for country crooning hubby evident. She said:
Three and a half years ago a man came along and said, "I'm going to take you to Tennessee." And he took me down there and he said, "I think you deserved to be loved. Let me love you, let me give you a home, and let's make a baby." So thank you, Keith Lionel."
As the voice of UNIFEM's Say No To Violence campaign, she is encouraging everyone to log on and sign the petition to help protect women around the world. She believes:
The mother is the heartbeat of the family. And if you take care of her, everyone does well.
It seems papa Urban is doing his fair share of protecting. Do you agree with Nicole that the mother is the heartbeat of the family? Source
I survived two pregnancies without morning sickness, but a pregnant Sugar staffer provided me with a tidbit of information that I thought I'd share. She was sailing along smoothly in her third trimester when the dreaded morning sickness she experienced early on in the first trimester was back, and it was worse. She said:
"I was literally seven months and one day pregnant and I started feeling nauseous again. The nausea was accompanied with getting sick this time around. Like all things in pregnancy, everyone is different and some, according to my O.B., have the unfortunate return of nausea. I wish I would have known it could come back, I totally thought I was in the clear — boy was I wrong!"
So it's back to ginger ale and dry crackers for my poor pregnant colleague. But she's right, and while it's not fun, it can be common for morning sickness to surface at any point during a pregnancy.
What about you? Did you experience morning sickness in your third trimester?
For as long as I can remember, I've always given my dad socks, underwear, books, and golf balls for Christmas. Every now and then I'll find one spectacular gift, but most of the time it's the same old stuff.
This year, surprise your pop with a sweet stash of goodies that are sure to make him sit back and revel in your creativity and generosity. Source
My son had been sleeping like an angel since eight o'clock and then around midnight, restlessness made way to a couple blood curdling screams once he realized we were out of rice milk. Attempts to calm him with other beverages in a cup with a lid didn't work and he pitched a full fledged fit.
As I attempted to rock our lil guy, my husband slipped on some shoes, fumbled for his keys and fled the house in search of an open grocery store. My son didn't settle until ten minutes later when his dad returned with a half gallon of milk. After a few swigs, our tot was back in a sound slumber. Does your child have a poison that puts him back to sleep?
New moms find themselves ditching their designer clutches and purses for more practical diaper bags, but toting around Pampers and bottles doesn't mean you have to lose your style. The Jimeale Diaper Bag ($90) is a great bag for moms who are not ready to give up their cool (or their sanity).
To see why I love this bag, and what celebrities have been spotted toting it around, just read more
