A friend told me she buys all of her children's clothes on sale thanks to end of the season liquidations. She purchases her lil one's apparel a year ahead of time when prices are slashed. Do you practice this penny pinching measure?
Exposing your lil one to the art of baking is more than just a bonding experience, it is an opportunity to teach every day skills like counting, measuring, healthy ingredients and following instructions. Unfortunately, the time needed to create such edible treats and many a mama's distaste for all of the processed ingredients in store-bought mixes, makes baking days a rare occurrence in some households. But, leave it to one family to help another.
Kids Central Kitchen makes a wide variety of whole grain baking mixes that are delicious, nutritious and kid friendly. With seven mixes to choose from, including their original Propeller Energy Bar ($6), the company has created bagged goodies without trans fats, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors, favors or preservatives. Each mix simply requires a few household ingredients like yogurt or applesauce, a little mixing and time in the oven before brownies, cookies and breads are ready to eat. The Oregon-based family run company also sells the mixes paired with kid-sized baking utensils for unique gifts and party favors, perfect for your lil chef's next party.
Trying to get your tot's teeth brushed, but they aren't into it? Turn the task into a game. When my daughter purses her lips and shuts off access to her pearly whites, I ask questions about her favorite things. How happy would you be if...and then fill in the blank with things like "our house was made of marshmallows," "the whole world was pink" and "you had a pet unicorn"? Her wide grin allows me the opportunity to slip the toothbrush in. Source
The people that brought the world MizPee, the mobile restroom tracker that helps you find a clean place when you just gotta go, launched a parent-friendly site called Yojo Mama today.
Described as a "concierge for your cell," the site helps moms and dads find child-friendly restaurants, toy stores, kids clothing stores, diaper-changing stations (can I get an amen!) and playgrounds from your computer or web enabled cell phone.
The results are based on the user's current location, neighborhood or city. I tested the site for diaper changing locations in one of my favorite San Francisco neighborhoods and received directions to a nearby public library, mall and a handful of low key restaurants. The service only works in New York and San Francisco right now, but Los Angeles, Chicago and other areas are coming soon. I suspect it will be a hit with mobile parents living in metropolitan areas and geek does too!
