Julianne Moore Has Children on Her Mind

Julianne Moore believes that children are our future and is doing all she can to ensure that they make it. The Academy Award nominated actress serves as a Save the Children artist ambassador and presented the agency's "The Disaster Decade: Lessons Unlearned for the United States" report recently.

According to the text, only seven out of 50 states meet the minimum preparedness standards for protecting children during disasters, which includes effective systems for family reunification and shelters that separate tots from adults to keep them safe from predators. Moore and Save the Children are now lobbying Congress to better prepare for helping children during hurricanes, wildfires, the recession and the like.

The mother of two – Caleb, 11, and Liv, 7 – plans her filming schedules around her offspring and is often seen shuttling them to school. She is an outspoken supporter of the TS Alliance to raise awareness of tuberous sclerosis and has penned two books about life as a redheaded child, Freckleface Strawberry and Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully.

Women spent generations asserting their value in the home and now that some of their spouses have taken on more child-rearing responsibilities, many men are realizing how undervalued being the primary caretaker (or equally sharing the job) can be.

From Harper's Bazaar's photo shoot portraying Chris Noth as Mr. Mom to Michael Lewis's recently published book and essays on fatherhood, Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood, men are finding that daddy duty doesn't warrant a round of applause. Lewis argues that since new-era pops are becoming more involved in their tot's lives, they have been thrown from their place of power in the household and placed in one of submissive duty, simply following their wives' childcare directives and becoming little more than the equivalent of hired help.

While moms have suffered from the unappreciated-housewife complex for years, modern dads appear to be getting a taste of it now. Are involved dads being taken of advantage of by their unsuspecting wives?

Mural Meal: Incredible Edible Rainbow

Life's not all sunshine and rainbows, but dinner can be! Take a few items from the fridge, dice them up, and mama's got a delish, balanced meal in no time!

Pull out a boiled egg, fresh blueberries, red bell peppers, carrots, and zucchini. Chop up the red and orange ingredients and cook the zucchini if it's not already in the fridge with some other leftovers. Make a small amount of couscous to provide a little weight to the meal. Arrange the red peppers in an arch and place the carrots below them. Add the couscous for a ray of yellow light and layer the last row of veggies with zucchini. Complete the brilliant hues with plump blueberries for a sweet tooth. Polish off the pretty picture with white, cloudlike hard-boiled egg slices and then watch the masterpiece disappear right before your very eyes.

Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts took a break from their busy acting schedules to get some time away with their tots. The couple taught their sons Alexander, 1, and Samuel, 6 months, to be lil conservationists when they planted a tree in the Jewish National Fund Park in Galilee on Sunday. Alexander is becoming the spitting image of his mama with his fair hair and complexion, while baby Samuel stayed wrapped up and safe from the sun.

For all the fame and fortune that has come her way, mama Sheryl Crow seems to keep a modest head on her very sculpted shoulders. Mother to adorable two-year-old Wyatt, the talented crooner has overcome quite a few obstacles in the public eye while maintaining a genuine smile and staying true to herself. On her biggest parenting task, she said:

I know I have a responsibility... As a mom, the biggest thrill for me, but most humbling role is raising my kid as a humanitarian. I want him to grow up feeling he can do something for people less fortunate.

By attending events like "Stamp Out Violence" and publicly speaking out on breast cancer, the philanthropic rock star is practicing what she preaches. By the time he enters school, lil Wyatt may be singing, "All I wanna do is volunteer."

Aaaaay batter batter batter batter, swing batter! The warm weather months provide tots plenty of opportunities to engage in physical activities outdoors. While running through the sprinkler can keep babes happy for hours on end, organized sports can introduce youngsters to team effort, practice, routine and rich experiences.

Deacon Phillippe took a swing at the ball this weekend at a Little League game in Los Angeles. If acting isn't his calling, perhaps the Dodgers will show some interest.
