You Know You're a Mother When: Jaywalking
I used to zigzag through downtown streets as cars whizzed by without a worry in the world. Now, I can't bring my heels from holding the curb during red lights — even when oncoming traffic is more than a few feet away. Usually, I wait until the light flashes for pedestrians and proceed between the lines of the crosswalk. My single friends tease me that I'm a shell of who I once was, playing it safe, wasting time in the hustle and bustle of life. But, I can't bring myself to dash any more because I am more careful — I'm a mom. And, I can't get run over because my husband hasn't figured out how to style our daughter's hair and my son sometimes wakes up and needs me in the middle of the night.
