How To:
- Place a bolster or folded blanket five to six inches away from the wall. Sit sideways on the right end of the support, with your right side against the wall. Exhale and, with one fluid motion, swing your legs up onto the wall with your shoulders and head lightly resting on the floor.
- Your seat bones should be resting in the space between the support and the wall, and your front torso should gently arch from the pubis to the top of the shoulders.
- Lift and release your skull away from the back of your neck and soften your throat. Open your shoulder blades away from the spine and release your hands and arms out to your sides, palms up.
- Keeping legs firm, hold them vertically in place. Release your weight into the back of your pelvis. Soften your eyes and turn your gaze downward.
- Stay in this pose for anywhere from five to 15 minutes. Slide off the support, lower your pelvis to the floor, and turn to the side.
Benefits: When practiced after sexual intercourse, this pose is thought to keep sperm inside the body and close to the opening of the uterus.
