Would You Be Self Conscious If Mama Was Bigger Than Pops?

The highly anticipated pictures of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's adorable twin babes were released this week. And while Jenny has always been adored for her bootilicious block, her hubbie looked seriously slim outfitted in the photographs.

It spurred a discussion with another Sugar staffer and got me thinking about a couple other celeb mamas who are secure in being a bit bigger or taller than their better halves. In heels, Katie Holmes towers above Tom Cruise and his ex, Nicole Kidman has a pinch of height over Keith Urban.

Despite the physical differences, the trio of stunning women seem confident in their relationships.

I'm 5'10" (actually, 5'9.5", but I like to give myself that extra half an inch) and my boyfriend is 5'7". It doesn't bother me at all. He's the best man I've ever known, and when I'm in his presence, I've never felt safer. I don't think height should matter, and to people who are confident in themselves, it doesn't matter. He's gorgeous, funny, brilliant, and he treats me like a princess. Doesn't get much better than that. Also, people compliment us all of the time on what a great looking couple we are. We're only told this because we are confident in ourselves and in each other. Besides, I think it's super cute when a girl is a bit taller than her guy. It's unique and refreshing. :)

My ex was a thin man and was about a foot taller than me (I'm 5'4"). I think I weighed more than him too and I won't lie, it bugged me. My husband is 5'10" and about 300lbs. I have to say I prefer the bigger guy over the skinny guy. More to hold on to. I don't like feeling bony arms hugging me.

I used to have 1 criteria when picking out a guy; he HAD to be taller than me. I'm 6'0", so that narrowed it down quite a bit. It was ridiculous; I would date guys who were ugly, mean, sense-of-humor-less, etc. as long as they were taller than me. Finally I decided to hang out with somebody I actually liked, regardless of height (gasp!) An adorable guy who I'd been friends with for years and I started hanging out alone together, and I just enjoyed myself so darn much. Two years later, we're engaged, and one year from now he'll be my husband. Never been happier. Plus, flats look cute with almost any look nowadays!

i'm 5'10.5", and have dated shorter men before. it wasn't the greatest, but it was fine. i lucked out with my husband-to-be, though; he's 6'5" and muscular, and it's the perfect fit. when you're a tall woman, sometimes it's nice to feel like a "little lady!"

I am the same size (height, weight) as my current bf and it sometimes does irk me into feeling a tad self-conscious. Maybe I am feeding into the stereotype of needing a bigger man to protect me, who knows. But what gets me is that I work out and watch what I eat and can't seem to budge the weight or fat, yet he can stop drinking pop for a few days and loses about 10 lbs.

I'm 5'9 and my boyfriend is 5'7. He weighs a little bit more than me, so I'm not quite as self-conscious about it. Besides, I rarely wear heels anyway and he wouldn't mind if I did.

Height doesn't matter for me. It really doesn't. I'm 5'7" and my boyfriend is 5'10". However, I'd definitely date someone shorter than me. With heels, I'm about 6 feet tall, so I'm usually a bit taller than my bf with heels. I wouldn't date a guy that was shorter than me in a lot. 5'5" and up is good for me, I guess. I love my heels and if my SO doesn't mind me towering him, who give a hoot, right?

I'm 5ft 10 inches and most of the guys I've dated have been my same height or shorter than me. My first husband was 5ft 7 and he didn't care on bit that I was taller. Sylvester Stallone said one time in an interview that he would never date a short girl that his preference were women who were taller than him. It takes all kinds that's for sure, but the only requirement a man has to have for me to love him, is to love and care for me just as much as I do him, height doesnt matter to me at all.

I am 5'9" and my husband is 5'6" and it has never bothered me. He is also thin but sculpted and healthy. It really doesn't matter as long as you love each other.

I definitely don't need a giant by any means, but at a mere 5'2, it would be nice if my man was bigger than me. It probably has to do with feeling like he can protect me and there is nothing better than being embraced by someone who makes you feel dainty and feminine.

You won't care what size he is once you realize he's really the one for you. My boyfriend is an inch shorter than me without shoes and that doesn't stop me from wear heels when I want to. I love him and that's what matters. :)

I dated a guy who was shorter than me and never really thought about it however I don't think I could have married someone shorter than me. My husband is only about 4" taller than me though so there is not a huge height difference. I used to know this girl who almost exclusively dated shorter men and rarely dated anyone as tall or taller than her so I guess it can work both ways.

When I wear tall heels, I stand a bit taller than hubby, but it never bothered me, because I love and find him attractive regardless of his height. He is not short, but not tall. I dated a guy who was very this though and you know those days where a girl feels "fat"? Being around him always made me feel worse.

I shouldn't have said "nobody" but people are MUCH MUCH quicker to get up in arms about saying something about race than about height, when height is just another thing you can't choose.And cateislate, I don't think that it's not a factor, I'm completely aware that is a factor, my ex is black, and I got plenty of shit about dating a black man, so much that I questioned whether I should be dating him at all.My father has been bullied for his whole life for being 5'1" when he had a genetic disorder (rickets) that caused him to have such a short stature. He had to spend about 11 months in the hospital as a child and has had horrible pain his whole life because of this genetic mutation, yet he went on to become a doctor, with an MBA, and is now working for a Fortune 500 Company making 120K+ a year, yet he is still ridiculed for his stature. I'm only 4'11" and have been called names my whole life, even though it's much more acceptable to be a short woman than a short man.I get a little upset when people don't want to consider having a relationship with a person just because of their height. They're probably just as great of people as any person of "normal" height yet they're not given the time of day because of something they can't even control.

I didn't have any trouble dating a man shorter than me, and I'm only 5'3" so he was pretty short! My husband just went on a huge health kick though, exercising every day and hardly eating, and he's lost like 15 pounds in two weeks. So he looks very buff in very little time. I'm a short, kind of chubby size 8, and he doesn't understand why I don't just do the same thing- after all, it worked for him, right? What does being a woman have to do with it? Surely if I just tried hard enough I could be a size two by mid-April! I sort of hate him right now. So yeah, the weight issue kind of sucks.

I think it's ridiculously optimistic/idealistic/clueless to think that skin color does not matter in the choices that people make about a partner. It shouldn't, but it does. Unrelated, I am taller than my husband.
