Who's Watching Your Kids on New Year's Eve?

It's tough to find sitters for big drinking holidays like Cinco de Mayo and St. Patrick's Day, but New Year's Eve is a whole different ball game as nearly everyone has plans.

If you're lucky, you can drop your babe off at your parents' house if they live in town or don't have any plans of their own. Or, you can host a party at your place and allow your lil one to snooze into the new year in his own crib.

What is your babysitting solution?

The one party that I've gone to on new year's was pretty dull so we left early and barely made it home to toast the new year, but it was fun once we got home!

I'm pregnant, not that we ever go anywhere for NYE. I think I've only ever been to one NYE party.

My mom is going to go to watch the kids and me and my husband are going to go out to celebrate New Years.

We are enjoying powder runs up here in BC, Canada for New Year's so will probably not last til midnight this year. a whole bunch of families are celebrating here together, with fireworks on the ski slopes at 9 with the kids. It is actually pretty perfect way to ring in the new year for us this year :)

My son is at his father's for New Year's, so we're off the hook. When he's here, we just stay home and watch the ball drop.

We're going to a friend's house, three little ones will be there so our friends got a sitter. I guess it will be a little fun time for the grown ups.

We're swinging by a local pub to have a sip of Guinness and ring in the Irish New Year with some friends at 7 p.m. The pub doesn't allow smoking, and it will be other friends with their kids. Then we're going to a party at my ILNILs' house (a whole half-mile away from our house), and our little guy (almost 1) has his own room and a pack 'n' play to sleep in there. So, he'll hang out with the adults for a while and then get dinner and his usual bedtime (8 p.m.) while we socialize downstairs.

We're staying home, but don't qualify as "no plans." We do a nice dinner, watch a movie, and put the kids to bed. Then we toast each other and spend some alone time. By about 10, we're asleep. ;) I hate being out on New Year's. I was always the babysitter before I got married and had kids. I don't want to drive or be out in those crowds.

Most of our neighborhood is hosting a block party, so the kids will be running around like the little maniacs they are. :P If its cold and we move inside whoever's house, I'll probably try to get them to lay down on the couch. Otherwise, they can just have at it. I'm a total sleep nazi 99% of the time, but even *I* let up on special occasions.

two new years ago, my husband and i spent it on the strip in las vegas....it was madness, i dont know if id do it again....but we took my grandparents along for the 2 week vacay, and they happily took care of our daughter while we did adult activities. i was shocked to see people with thier kids tho. there were fights breaking out, topless girls, (duh) excessive drinking, cops on horses...and in the middle of it all families pushing thier kids in the stroller...bah. i was so mad, how could anyone have any kids in that environment?? plus, it was REALLY cold that night.

Wish there was an other option for this poll. We'll be taking our little ones to a party elsewhere. Last year we brought sleeping bags and a movie on our computer to crash them in whatever available room there was as it was all adults at the party. That worked well. This year there will be other kids so I'm sure they'll be running around like chickens with their heads cut off at midnight.
