Father's Day: Does Your Guy Pick Out His Own Gifts?

I don't know if it's a guy thing, but the men in my life always seem to know what they want. My dad is the type of person that never expects anything, but if the subject of buying him a gift comes up — he'll offer up a book suggestion and then slip the money to pay for it in my purse. My husband, on the other hand, goes shopping himself. For Father's Day this year, he took our kids to the local bike shop and fixed up his ride. Do you like to pick presents out for your guys or do they choose?

my husband picked out his own gift - and he planned his own day this year. He wanted to reup his WoW sub, and to go have bbq at my parents. Usually I plan since he doesnt care, so it was nice to have his input.

My dad said that he would like either a car (I don't remember what kind it was as I am not a car person, but it was definately an expensive one) or a canoe. My parents are very well off, so it is difficult to purchase gifts for them. They have everything that they want/need! My siblings and I made a "certificate" for a canoe, and we will go with him to help pick out a canoe for him... but of course, he's buying. I'm in university, two of my sisters are in high school, my youngest sister is in middle school, and my brother is the only one done with school and working full time... My dad does not expect us to get him anything. We all made him cards and are having a family BBQ today though.
