Bite of Pregnancy Pie: Do You Believe in Labor-Inducing Pizza?

Expectant women who are tired of being pregnant and ready to meet their babies try anything, even "labor-inducing pizza," to get into the delivery room. Would you bite? There's a pizzeria chain in Northern California that sells a Prego pie. The family-friendly eatery offers up slices piled high with salami, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, olives, bell peppers, extra onions, sausage, ground beef, linguisa, extra garlic, parmesan, and oregano, and testimonials from moms that went into labor after eating it. What's your take?

This falls into the category of "It probably won't help, but it couldn't hurt." If eating prego pie gives an expectant mom who's tired of being pregnant the hope and the faith to say, "Let's hold off on the induction for now. Let's see if this pizza does the trick," then I'm all for it.

There are three things that induce labor. Nature, medicine and stress. If your baby isn't ready and your doctor hasn't induced you, then the only way it's coming out is if you put your body into distress, which is what so many of these so called 'natural methods' do. Walking, sex, spicy foods and castor oil all work by making the body think the baby is in danger and needs to be born. People are insane.

My friend actually tried this pizza! Unfortunately it didn't induce labor, just gave her awful indigestion...

Nothing outside medical intervention can force your body into labor if it's not already preparing. So no, I don't believe it induces labor.

I think it can work if you are already near your due date. A friend told me to eat jalepeno and pepperoni pizza from BJ's (in SoCal) and later that night my water broke. Of course I ate the pizza on my due date so maybe my water would have broken regardless of the disgusting pizza :-)

I don't believe in any of that stuff. My daughter was 10 days late and I was trying EVERYTHING. No luck; the doc had to induce before she got any bigger.
