"I hate you!" is a phrase no parent wants to hear, but chances are, they will. When denied the opportunity to do something children want to do — watch their TV show, attend a party, or drive the car — they will utter the unkind words. But what about the moms and dads?

A mother recently confided in me that when her wee ones were younger, she actually hated them at times. As a mother of two, I can understand the moments of grinding teeth, squeezing fists and deep breathing to keep cool, but I've never come close to hating my own kids. Have you?

I've been dealing with pretty bad postpartum depression and I can honestly say that there are times I've hated my child and times I thought my life would be better if they'd never been born. Do I actually mean those things now that I've been treated? Mmm, no, probably not but in those moments the feelings were real. No one should feel ashamed for "hating" their child at times. It can be overwhelming and anyone who has been through postpartum depression can vouch for it being even worse than normal. To anyone going through it right now, don't be ashamed just get the help you need to start enjoying your child!

That is no good word to get heard by the children. Parents need to be more careful to saying such rude words for the sake of their own kid growth. We had better stay calm while waiting for the best moment to say some advices than getting so mad this way. Toddler Crafts Julie.

Not being a parent myself I can't say from experience but I can imagine that someone could be so frustrated with their child that they hate them at that very moment.

Frustrated yes, hate no and I don't think that I ever will. I love my children unconditionally.

I have never hated my daughter. She is only over 13 months, so there has been no reason for me to even come close to thinking or feeling that. I have at times been overwhelmed and frustrated, and have thought to myself that I could just use a break, but I could never feel hatred towards her. I'm not sure how anyone could really hate their child.

Oh, and word to the wise, don't tell your kids you hate them. They may even take your seriously...it's damaging, and could change your relationship.

My mom has said it to my brother, and never meant it. My dad said it to me, and told me I am the reason his life was bad (all in one breath!) he meant it, I think. When I was 13, I marched up to my dad after he got done putting me down, and I said very calmy "You know, I know it's obvious, but I hate you." That man CRIED. He f*cking cried when I said I hated him. You know it's real when someone can tell you to your face without raising their voice at all, or doing it out of anger. I really dislike him. I have no love for him at all. My mom has never said she hated me, because she does not. Plus, I have never pissed her off enough for her to say it. She knows I was a blessing, and her easiest child. She always tells me she got spoiled when she had me. It's true. I adore my mother. Best mom in the world.

I have never hated my son. I get so frustratingly angry and I don't want to look at him sometimes, mostly so that I can have sometime to cool down, but inside my heart it is just torn to pieces with pain and love because I just want the best for him and I want him to grow to be the best man he can be but I never ever hate him.
