When Did You Tell Your Employer You Were Pregnant?

Friends are one thing, but bosses are another. Many pregnant women choose to wait at least three months before announcing their baby news at the office. Some like to keep their expectant status a secret as long as their belly allows while others like to be upfront in any type of business. When did you share the news?

I told my boss right away because normally I have to move heavy pieces of equipment or large packages myself, so he needed to know I couldn't do that stuff anymore. Also it's my first - and I had a girlfriend who recently suffered a miscarriage and it was very hard on her, in fact, so much so she took time off work to cope. I figured no matter what happened he should know whether it all worked out or not. That way as time went on and things came up he knew that it was all related to the pregnancy. I was probably 7 weeks when I told him?More so I was new here, and my review was coming up. I didn't want to jeopordize his trust in me, or my chance at receiving my health benefits. He was very happy I was honest and upfront with him so early on. I didn't get a raise but he had my benefits kick in ASAP so I didn't have to continue going to free clinics.

I would wait till after the first trimester is over, since I've heard that's the most delicate/sensitive time. I knew a girl who told everyone very early on in her pregnancy then had a miscarriage and every one in the office found out and kept coming by months later to give her their sympathies - the poor girl had to live her "disappointment" over time and again. So I want to make sure the baby is growing well and healthy before telling anyone.

LOL @ the options! I am bigger boned and tall with bigger hips, and my boobs were inflated. so although my belly was growing and i could see it undressed, i was able to hid it till i was about 5 months.

I think it would be funny to pull a J-Lo and just be like "What? Pregnant? whatever do you mean?!" when you were busting out at 9 months.

A work "friend" told my boss's 10 yr old daughter.. who told him. Ugh, people. That was at like 2-3 mos.

I told my co-workers at 3 months, but I waited until 5 months to tell my boss. I didn't have a reason to wait- I just hadn't found the right moment yet. When I finally did tell him he was like, "um, I kinda figured."

I told my work at 3 months due to advice of others. Never again! I'm waiting as long as I can. I was fired 1 week after telling.

I told my boss the same night I peed on the stick and got the positive- but he's the dad so I thought it was the right thing to do ;-) - oh and my husband before the snickering starts ;-)

i told my coworker at 3 mos, but she kept it quiet (the only other woman in my office)... til my boss one day looked at me like... hmmm... she's really packin em on, and i told him the next day - no i'm not just getting fat i'm pregnant. he laughed because he thought he'd been so slick... thought he just kind of peeked... HARDLY...

I never told my boss. I told coworkers and they told him on accident. It was quite embarrassing. They were very supportive, I had a lot of anxiety abut it.

I told my immediate supervisor when I realized my morning sickness was very noticeable since it lasted all day and night. Also, I had a lot of headaches in my first two to three months so I was out a lot and I didn't want them to think I was just messing around. I like my job and wanted to keep it.

I waited until I was about 5 months along with my first son. My husband and I worked in the same place at the time but he was leaving for a new job so I waited until he left to tell my boss. He and my boss didn't get along so I didn't want to create any more tension between them.

But I couldn't hold it in! She was very kind about it though.But as for telling as soon as the test is positive... well, that was on my third day here (this is a new job, as you can tell) Well I wouldn't tell that early anyway, but especially since they probably hadn't decided whether they liked me yet or not!

I've never been pregnant, but when it happens it will all depend on what part of the year it is. See I am going to be a teacher so if I find out when it is summer I will wait until fall semester starts... and you can think about all the other situations.
