kythera- I know exactly what you went through! My mom has always had short hair and decided she wanted that for me too. I look back at my pictures and all I see is "helmut head". My mom just chuckles. I love that woman, but WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!

my oldest didn;t have enough hair to cut until she was about 3 1/2--when it started to get in her eyes we cut it. She love to go to Snip-Its kids hair cutting salon! It's a treat for her. My youngest turns 2 next week and is still fairly bald--to short to even comb it.

Don't have kids yet (so I didn't vote). I love reading the responses, I'm definitely getting a kick out of them. I don't know what I would do. I think if it was a boy, and it was growing fast, then I would get it trimmed. If it's a girl...let that hair grow! When I was 4-5ish my parents decided I'd look great with a pageboy haircut...NOT. By the time I got to Kindergarten, I was so envious of this girl that had long curly hair. Yeah, I still remember that. 8)

Baby Tommy is 6 months old and his hair is about 4 inches long and gets in his eyes when he eats! We just can't bear to cut it until he is at least one.

Not a momma yet but I am never gonna cut my kids' hair! Boys neither. I am gonna be that annoying mom who has a boy that looks like a girl and everyone is like "cut his damn hair" like they do with Kate Hudson and her son, LOL! :ROTFL: I just hate it when moms give their boys those ridiculous shaved neck military cuts when they're like aged 2 to whatever. Its gross! They're babies for crying out loud, they're supposed to have curls!

i don't remember, somewhere around 3 or 4 for the first 2. #3, with hair like lilsugar's daughter, got a hair cut from her sister at about 2 1/2 that took over 2 years to get back to it's original length. it was cut so crazy all over her head, someplaces right next to the scalp :( she's 7 now and her hair is down to the middle of her back and still really blonde and still really thin. but very pretty. i only get it trimmed when necessary.

All three of my boys were born with thick heads of stick straight hair. I waited a few months but it started looking really bad so I trimmed all their hair as needed starting at around 6 months old for the first time. I didn't get them an actual haircut until they were about 2.

My daughter is 17 months and has mad hair that goes straight down to about her ear then sticks out in a dutch-girl flick out but kind of totally at right angles to the rest of the hair in 3 inch curls. My husband is always telling me to cut it (it goes in her eyes, but I clip it back with the no slippy hair grippy as discovered right here on lil sugar) and this morning he told me he HAD cut it and I went nuts at him and he claimed he was joking. I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS. Until it is proper girl hair, rather than zany hair, I'm not touching it. Also, it's just adorable. But I do worry that other parents think I'm a slattern who neglects her in every conceivable way.

My poor son is totally bald at 4 months and if he's anything like I was, won't have much hair for years. The good news is that when I finally did get hair, it's pretty thick, so I'm hopeful he'll be fine. But maybe we'll save on toddler haircuts for awhile.

My son's hair started out slick straight and before he turned one it was a combination of wavy, curly and straight. I had to cut it right before his first birthday I couldn't wait any longer.

My son was born with a full head of hair (complete with a little rat tail down the back) that everyone said would fall out. Well, it never did, and around 7 months, I couldn't take it anymore, so he got his first haircut. He is just over 2 now and I swear he has to go every 6 weeks or it gets out of control!

My son was just over one and my daughter was about 1 1/2. With my daughter, I only cut it so it would be healthier and grow better not to shape it or change the length. And, actually...I've never cut either of my kids hair. I leave it to the professionals. 8)

My daughter has curly dirty blond hair and she took it upon herself to use her kiddie sissors to cut her bangs at 3 years and 3 months. She refused to have her hair up and her bangs were always in her face.

Before first birthday. My son had a head full of dark hair before he turned one and it wasn't wavy or anything. It just grew unevenly, so I took little cuts here and there to make it look better. After he turned one I was feeling like I was cutting a grown-ups hair, he had so much of it, so we went to a hairdresser then. Not he is 21 months and he is terrified of haircuts! It's such a pain!

My 8 year old daughter just got her first haircut 2 weeks after her 8th b-day in January. She had gorgeous dirty blonde waist length naturally super curly hair. I could do it. My 2 year olds hair I think is actually going to be thicker and curlier (if even possible), so we'll see what happens.

Both boys were about 18 months or so, when the curls got long. I'm sure my daughter will be much later, she's still bald and I want long curls on her.
