What's Your Stroller Budget?

Anyone who has ever shopped for baby will tell you: strollers aren't cheap. In fact, they are quite pricey. Most droolworthy designer strollers can't be pushed out of the shop for less than $1,500 to $2,000, and even less glitzy popular brands and models like the beloved Bugaboo Cameleon ($880 fully loaded) are spendy by most people's standards. And that's before you throw down for helpful stroller accessories and extras. What's your final budget when shopping for a carriage?

I too was a Bugaboo hata before my son was born. Like mstrauss, I thought everyone had them because they were expensive. I had my son before the Uppababy came out and when my husband started joking about getting a Bug I gave him the stink eye. Until I researched. At the time it was the only stroller that came with a bassinet, allowed you to reverse the seat to face your or away, switch the handlebar, was a joy to push, had a car seat adaptor so you don't need a snap'n go, and I loved that it comes apart into 2 pieces that are light to lift. I have 2 kids now and I still use my Bug and I love it. There are definitely those out there that just buy it because it's expensive and then bitch about the aspects they don't like, but there are some of us who did our research and chose what was best for our needs. I also find a lot of my friends who were anti-bugaboo are now buying them on craigslist because they've found the bugs hold up better than their strollers. :) Anyway, I guess my point is that you can't always judge a book by its cover... or stroller.

I got a few strollers, a jogger at $400, a Maclaren at $250 then the simple snap n go at $60, then after the whole Maclaren recall got another Peg Perego at $300 so all in all I should have just bought the orbit!!!

I did my research and the important things to me were the ease of folding, weight, comfort and getting it in and out of my car. The Graco strollers were to heavy and huge. I ended up with a Inglesina Zippy and then a Bugaboo Bee. Both pricey but amazing products. My double stroller is the Baby Jogger City Mini and it is the best stroller I have ever used. If the City Mini would have been around when my first child was born I would have bought the single. I recommend that stroller over all others! It is well under $500 even with the accessories you can buy.

We also bought our Bugaboo Frog used from Craig's List a few years ago. We are "older" parents, and our friends and family gave us almost everything else for our baby, so this was our splurge. We LOVE it and use it all the time, as we live in a neighborhood where there are walking and biking paths right outside our door. It's handling and ride are great, though there are new models out now that I would certainly want to test drive for comparison, if I were buying today.

i have the orbit and that cost $900 and i have the stokke and that cost $1,200 i also have other strollers but the orbit and the stokke is my favorite

What mattered to me most was safety and my $300 stroller is one of the safest around. There was a recall recently for one of the more expensive brands so the name and "cute factor" of the stroller has nothing to do with it. Do your research.

My hubby and I couldn't have afforded the stroller I was dying to have.. So my mother, who owns her own daycare, gifted me the Quinny Buzz 4, leaving us the ability to buy all the cutesie accessories like the matching carseat and the foot muff, etc. and a smaller stroller for travel. I LOVE MY QUINNY!! It's definitely less than the Orbit and the Bug, but is equally as stylish! The stroller was $650 and the carseat was $170.

I really wanted the bugaboo frog, but I knew that my family was not going to spend $800 for a stroller and my husband said "heck no!" So, I decided that the only way I was going to get the bugaboo was to buy it used. So, I went on craigslist and got a used bugaboo for #400, which means we saved over $300. I know it is still a little expensive, but I saved money on not having to buy a bassinet since it comes with one. That was my one splurge item on my registry. Always go used if you want something but can't afford the high price.

I spent 250 on mine, but i got one of those travel systems, and I really liked it, it served its purpose.

Mine was $50. And it's awesome! It's cute, safe, and easy to use. There's no way I'm going to spend $500 (let alone $2000!) on a stroller. Sorry.

we are in an economic crisis, is spending that much on a stroller nessecery? I paid $250 still wish i would have found one cheaper!

Gotta agree with anonymous. Less than 500 as the lowest option is kinda ridiculous. I spend 300 Euros on mine and it does just fine. Excactly what I need for walking the dog through fields and woods. I have another one that only sot me 20 Euros for the city.

In my community, people buy the Bugaboo all the time and it makes me a little sick. It's not even that great of a stroller and I know they are just buying it for the status. The Icoo and Uppa are so much better and cost so much less, or any Baby Jogger stroller. People, do your research before buying a stroller because of it's name!

lol, I think the whole stroller thing is ridiculously out of control. Unless you live in a mostly non driving city or you run, spending that kind of money on a stroller is pretty asnine.

i can't imagine there are people that can afford (or would want to spend the money) on a $2,000 stroller!
