Maybe she is looking a little large, but she doesn't need to hear it. Would it be appropriate to comment on someone's weight if they were not expecting? No! Same common sense rules apply to pregnant women, too.

Women are sensitive in general and having your hormones go haywire because you are pregnant makes it worse.

I've never been asked by an Asian woman, only white. A 40 year old man even asked me once. This lady asked me once and I gave my usual response. Then she tried to make it better by apologizing. I just said, "The best thing you can do right now is stop talking to me." Also, I went to a festival once while I was pregnant (anyone ever heard of a rainbow gathering?) and people were touching and worshiping like madness. At first it bothered me but then I started to really enjoy it. On the last day I was there I put on this outfit- middle eastern looking print with a small top and flowing pants, like a belly dancer outfit sort of- Some Hare Krishna girl got down on her knees and blessed me. It was great.

omg filmgirl! Idk if it's true that it's always asian women but both times it happened to me it was asian women. Lol. At the time I was not comfortable with confrontation but now, it'd be ugly.

I'm not fat either, but people have asked if I'm pregnant. But people often think skinny celebs have baby bumps, so I don't feel to bad anymore. It almost always happens when I wear tops with empire waists. And it is always an old asian lady, or a really large woman who asks if I'm pregnant.

I've been asked a few times if I'm pregnant- I wear a size 8 for goodness sake! And I say, "No, not pregnant, just fat, thanks." Also I got, "What are you expecting?" A girl. "No, that's not a girl. You're carrying like it's a boy. I'm never wrong." What is that? I saw the ultrasound! And if you're so sure, why did you even ask?

Comment #3, yes I know how you feel! I am plus sized and have been asked by women when I am expecting so many times that I just want to punch them. Yes, I have a little belly. But I also am bigger everywhere else too. My fiance certainly does not think I look pregnant, he loves my body! Some women have absolutely no manners and do not seem to care at all if it is hurtful. I never, ever ask a woman when she is expecting unless it is brutally obvious or she brings it up first.

Don't touch pregnant women, and don't dicuss the size or handling of the pregnant belly. It's simple. If she brings up being pregnant, congratulate her, ask her if she knows the sex and express general excitement. But that's it. Don't touch the belly. Don't coo at the belly. Don't put your face near the belly. Don't ask if you can do any of those things.

Unless a woman is pushing a head out from between her legs, you NEVER ask if she's pregnant.

also, what about the etiquette surrounding asking people if they are pregnant? i'm not a stick, but i am also not fat and have been asked "when are you due?" and all i want to due it punch the b**** in the face. unless you are certain that someone is pregnant i think that is terribly insulting.
