Were You Offended by the Motrin Moms Ad?

Earlier this week, Motrin removed its controversial moms' advertising campaign after tech-savvy mamas created an online uproar over the campaign's tongue-in-cheek positioning of babies as fashion accessories. Did you find the ad insensitive to mothers?

That was cute. I'm not a mom, but sometimes I think that women like to get all uppity just for the sake of getting uppity. If you can't joke about something so light -- like carrying your baby and the potential back breaking that causes, then my God, have you got some serious, serious issues to work out.I'm not a mom, but if I was -- I think I would relate to that. On the other hand, I could go crazy psycho b*tch...and have it all be like PMS x 80. I think people have better things to be pissed over than an ad that was made to be something you can relate to.They either marketed their product very well, or very badly. I think they did a great job, even if it was a little corny. If you didn't find it funny, I guess you weren't in the specific category of who they were marketing to. It goes way beyond "moms".

People are offended by the dumbest things. I sometimes think that becoming a mom removes some women's sense of humors. I thought the ad was funny. Not the BESTADEVEROMG, but amusing. And I find it's true. I wear my son in a BJorn quite a bit and it's not the most comfy for me (my husband thinks it's fine). It hurts my neck like crazy. But he loves it and it's convenient in certain situations.

Moms seem to have no sense of humor any more. It's like we wait for something to shriek about, boycott, and get offended. Why let a dumb COMMERCIAL have so much power over you? If you are secure in your choices, who cares what Motrin thinks?

I wasn't offended by it...i actually never heard it before now. I used one carrier and it was very uncomfortable. I am 5'9" and I could not take it. My husband, who is 6'4", carried our daughter in it for maybe one day and complained that it was uncomfortable as well. Maybe it was the specific brand that we had, but it was enough for us not to try any others.

I'm 4'11". *lol* I had to have my sling specially made to fit me. A lot of problems from baby carriers are poor fit, since the whole point of the design is to evenly distribute the weight.Now pushing a stroller? There's where I get aches and pains.

I guess I'm really petite. I'm like 5'4" 115lbs with a small rib cage. They don't bother me for less then an hour or I forget when I'm running errands, but I like to go on long walks or after the end of the day my shoulders would ache. I do like the sling better because they allow the muscles in my back and stomach to do more work and not my frame.But maybe its because I only babysit and I don't do it everyday.

I found it annoying, and a little stupid-sounding, but not offensive. I'm really surprised that THAT many people were that upset over it.

I use a carrier/sling/pouch all the time and haven't had straps digging or back problems. They alleviate them, actually.

What the pf*ck I thought it was cute. Tongue and cheek and what not, come on, you don't honestly believe they are trying to suggest babies are accessories. Anyone's who spent anytime carrying a baby in those carriers with the shoulder's straps digging in should find it mildly amusing.

The problem with the word "offended" is that people assume that if you're offended, you're foaming at the mouth and picketing the company. It's possible to be offended and still shrug it off as not being a big deal.

I wouldn't say that I'm REALLY offended, but the tone of the ad is what I have a problem with. To me, it almost sounded as if they were making fun of it and that is what makes it offensive. Although I wish there was a word a little less strong than "offensive".
