Did You Wax Your Way Into Labor?

When I was 38 weeks pregnant, I made an appointment to get a bikini wax during my 40th week.

Clearly out of my mind, I actually went into labor on my waxing date.

I'm not sure if I wanted to do the maintenance for my own benefit or the medical staff, but in the end I don't think it made a difference to anyone in the delivery room.

Did you maintain your lady parts up to your due date?

My hubby helped me tidy up down there. The hospitals here don't routinely shave you unless you are having a c-section. It was actually a nice bonding experience for us.

The only thing I waxed was the stripe on the lower half of my belly. I swear that with both pregnancies I started looking like chewbacca. As with the other stuff, the hubby helped keep the hedges trimmed ;-)

I can barely reach my lady parts now and I'm only 1/2 way throught this pregnancy. There will be no waxing at the end! Anyway, I live in Europe now. These women don't even trim their eyebrows...

meantheo - i don't think your brother and sister in law would have noticed a difference. usually it's not about whether or not the woman is well kept that's disturbing to people, it's the actual process of giving birth.

i had my fiance shave me atleats 2 times a week we called it shave day then he had a major job of shaving my legs and bikini the day before i went into be induced... you wont beleive how scary it is to have someone that close to your hoha with a razor

I don't wax, but I did keep up the grooming, I never really get that big so it wasn't that hard for me. I don't think it is routine for hospitals to shave you anymore, I have never heard of anyone I know having been shaved when they went into labor.

I don't wax that area either, and I've never been shaved during any of my 4 labors either.

I kept it up, for all the people in the delivery room, but more for me. I knew I would be too busy after baby, so I wanted to get it done before he was born.

I'm now at 38 weeks and have just been waxed, too me itmade sense to take care of it on my terms, not the hospıtal's

I tried to maintain myself during pregnancy but it became really hard with the belly. After a while - this was my third pregnancy - you don't sweat the small stuff so much.

I was not expecting to be induced 2 weeks before I was due (I thought I was just going in for a sonogram), so what little grooming I was planning on doing was quickly laid by the wayside. But, when it was determined that I was going to need a c-section and I was wheeled into the OR I heard one nurse/doctor say to another, "Does she need to be shaved?" and the other said, "Oh, yeah!" I was so embarrassed!!!!!

I was not concerned. I was already dealing with enough, in enough discomfort and pain, to bother with that. It's nothing they've never seen before. And for the record, I was never shaved by the hospital staff, either.

I don't normally do much to maintain my "lady parts" anyway, so no. But they didn't shave me either when I was in labor 8 years ago with my oldest. With the c-sections they just shave the top near where they're going to do the incisions. I didn't even care if my legs were clean-shaved, to be honest. I mean, labor nurses and OBs watch women crap on the table every day, I didn't really think the groomed status of my legs and pubic area was going to matter much.

i went to great lengths to keep tidy down there. I was on bed rest so my waxer made a house call for me the day I stopped taking the medication to control my contractions. My brother and sister-in-law were in the delivery room (they opted to watch from above not below) but I still didn't want anyone to have to go what I went through watching those birthing videos with the au natural women.

No..... Normally I don't wax that area .My labor was induced 2 weeks before my due date so i had enough time to take care of that before i went into the hospital.

I didn't think they shave you that often at the hospital anymore (at least from what I've heard from friends and I know my hospital doesn't--it's an old-fashioned notion since they realized there is no benefit). Anyhow, I did my best to shave and trim earlier that day, when I suspected something was up. I was honestly more concerned about having hairy legs since people would be seeing those during my whole stay.

absolutely!! wasn't letting some granola midwife do the job herself with a pink bic razor!! I was always a waxer then saw the razors and women who do it on the hospital tour--nearly blacked out with fear!!!! Waxing was less traumatic LOL!
