Kate Gosselin Talks Family Failure on Today Show

Divorce after 10 years of marriage isn't what most mothers want for their growing children. and reality star Kate Gosselin is no different. In her first interview since she and Jon announced their separation, the mother of eight broke her silence and spoke candidly with Meredith Viera on the Today Show this morning. The soon-to-be divorcee talked about her love for the husband she knew and her disconnect from the man he has become. Kate also chatted about how she's putting her best foot forward for her children and moving toward the future.

I wish you the best Kate. I think you knew this was going to happen and you realize that you will continue to do the show for the benefit for the kids. You did what a mother would have done. Oh Kate take the Kids to Church. I did not see any of this during the show. I noticed God was missing in your home. I feel you are a strong woman and I never did see you as the mean one. If you go back to some of your shows in the past you will see that Jon started changing than. Especially when he had help painting the kids room. Check it out for yourself.

I don't feel bad for Kate at all. They brought this all on themselves as soon as they signed a contract to do the show. If they needed the extra money then they should have figured other ways to do it. Actually, this woman had multiple kids on purpose, so once again, it's her own fault.

If she truly cares about every member in her family then she would stop airing their family business immediately. And why all the tears on television when most know that they're fake. Oh that's right, Kate needs more ratings to keep the show on television. What a shame for those poor kids.

I love when people pull the "Gosh, judge much?" card. First of all, they're being hypocritical, as saying that is a judgment in and of itself. Which makes their statement groundless from the start. But really, Jon and Kate voluntarily put their lives out there, and continue to live in the most public way possible at every turn. They BEG for people to draw conclusions and fight over who can make the other look the worst. If they didn't want to judgment, don't live publicly. Don't force your kids to live publicly. Get over yourselves.

their marriage was created by their actions/non-actions. they gave up on it and now are dealing with unhappy kids. lets say kate is a total control freak and jon is a no help dad. YOU PICKED THIS PERSON. if you really wanted to do something for the kids you would have sucked it up and found a way to stay married. it got hard and you both decided that "till death do us part" didn't mean anything. that will teach your kids something. renew the vows WITH the kids in the ceremony and then a couple of months later you announce divorce; your words and promises lose their meaning. it seems like nothing is private for this family. which makes me worry for the kids when they hit those teen years. "hey mom and dad! you think YOU gor headlines?? look at this!" weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! the show must go on, right?

i haven't watched this yet but i'm sure it'll be all over the news feeds tonight. i REALLY think TLC should have stopped the show. their marriage is a mess and so is their family. i mean is it really fair to the kids to air all this? what will they think when they are older? if this blog is any representation of the media in general, a ton of us were jon and kate fans in the beginning. however, it's reached the point of ridiculous now with all their personal drama. it seems like people don't want to hear about it anymore ... it's no longer entertaining. how about the duggars? or, the little people family show? good values. there's enough crap on t.v. already about people doing bad things and not treating each other nicely. it's nice to see that someone people are still polite and nice - we need more of them on the screen.

I don't think anyone really knows what goes on behind closed doors and when the cameras are off except for Jon & Kate. What we know is what we've seen edited on the show... other than that - it's what you want to make up in your head. It's easy to get on your high horse and point fingers and call them names just because they are on a reality TV show, but in fact, they are real parents and real kids. I wish the family all the best and hope they can get through this.

Oh yeah, she broke her silence. Her five-minute break from being on the covers of magazines must've been TORTURE for her!! She says her kids' favorite show is Jon and Kate, which I find sick. Great, let's raise them to be media whores and think bickering is entertaining, too.

She treated Jon as one of her other kids as well. She was so bossy and she loves money. Money is what ruined this family and they're still making so much money off the kids. Sure I also blame Jon, but she did treat him bad.

she's in a bad position, having aired all their dirty laundry for years. i actually think she handled the interview quite well. It's clear that Jon and her changed over the last few years... as living life in the public eye would tend to do such a thing. they should probably both stay out of the spotlight at this point if they're so dedicated to the kids. we've heard both sides.. they've addressed the rumors... now go away and live your lives for your children since you constantly state that you do everything for them.

I feel for the children, mainly. Divorce is hard for small children to deal with. But I think Jon and Kate both had an equal part in destroying their marriage.

I'm sorry, but I seriously believe Kate started this whole mess and is now facing the consequences. It's easier for Jon to be blamed because he's see out in public with the younger woman. Kate did her dirt behind closed doors.
