Elisabeth Hasselbeck Drags Daughter Into Public Apology

Elisabeth Hasselbeck took a stab at ESPN reporter Erin Andrews's costumes on Dancing with the Stars, and then the conservative talk show host dragged her daughter into the debacle. After making a snide remark about Andrews's stalker on Tuesday's The View, the mother of three tearfully apologized this morning. Do you think it was appropriate for Elisabeth to involve Grace, 5, in the situation?

It wasn't "an unfortunate comment" - it was pure victim shaming. At best it was negligent, at worse malicious. I really agree. No matter how she apologizes, we know her true colors.

I agree with Fairly Odd Mother and bunnyhorse...talk about editorial slant. It was an unfortunate comment not meant maliciously and people should stop making everything so political.

I agree with fairly odd mother, don't see the issue here. It's not uncommon to learn things from children and to think you have nothing to gain shows arrogance and ignorance. Behar says crass things all the time but because she wears the title of a comedian and a liberal one at that, she get's a free pass. Depends on how grave the matter but I think no matter who it is, if the person is giving a heartfelt apology, we should move on and stop dwelling and not bring personal bias in to things.

Since the woman has nothing of value to say about anything ever, I think sharing what her five year old said was probably the most intelligent thing she's ever done on The View.

I agree with Fairly Odd Mother... it's sweet that she could learn something like this from her daughter. At the same time, however, I also agree this woman should keep her mouth closed some of the time. She annoys me!

Agree with you runningesq! My sister-in-law constantly has conversations like this with her 7 and 5 year olds. Maybe she needs some grown-up friends to talk to! Seeking advice from a child is a little odd to me.

I think that if you need a 5 year old to tell you not to act a certain way, you need help. Or perhaps she should just STFU.

I think the headline of this piece makes it sounds like there was 'dragging' when she's merely recounting a sweet conversation she has with her daughter. I think there are plenty of times our kids help us see what is "right", especially if we are trying to teach them the best way to behave. Personally, I think this is a touching story, and I don't see anything wrong with her mentioning her daughter's name. Now, if she pulled Grace out, sat her on the couch and asked her to repeat their exchange, I'd feel differently, but I thought this was fine.
