4/5 I didn't know that breech babies could be delivered vaginally.
1I'd never heard the marshmallow one. That's cute.
24/5, I forgot the definition of Lotus birth!
34/5 I got the Lotus birth question wrong too. I'm sorry, but that sounds so gross.
4I also got lotus wrong. That's just icki imho.
55/5 woot!
6Thanks for drawing attention to the fact that breech babies can be delivered vaginally. However, I wouldn't try it unless I were one of the women who doesn't feel contractions!
7who doesnt feel a contraction?? and why wasnt that me?!?1?!
8Pallas Athena, breech babies CAN be delivered vaginally, but it is rarely the existing protocol in most hospitals. It's definitely possible, but usually not probable.
9i want to be one of those women who dont feel contractions when i give birth.. that'll be the ultimate
105/5!
Again, a perfect score, & I thought a "lotus" birth was a new term for "breech" birth.
The last 1 I knew thanks to 2 of my aunts on my mom's side of the family. When the 1st one got pregnant she didn't even know - this was in 1957 - She still had her period, never showed, never had "morning sickness", sore back, etc.... never had labor pains either. Sad, sad, time for her & her husband. She went to the bathroom, sat down... (forgive the crudeness but it's the way it happened): their son came right out of her & drowned before she could comprehend what had happened. Naturally, it was a shock to the entire family & when she got pregnant again... she was thankfully asleep in bed when cousin Mark was born, 8 lbs. 5 oz., healthy & happy & soon followed by 5 more - 3 boys & 2 girls.
The other aunt went through the same thing - Lost the first baby, a girl, while sleeping. She had the same number of children as her sister but in reverse order: a girl, followed by 3 more girls & 2 boys. She never showed either... The doctors had a name for the "condition" but I forget what it was called...
My mom wasn't so blessed - She stopped after 3 of us cause she really suffered EVERY symptom of pregnancy but to the extreme: i.e. morning sickness was constant for the ENTIRE pregnancy - she was throwing up 4-5 times a day but forcing herself to eat for the sake of us... Labor pains lasted 52 hours (almost lost mom & sister there), 48 hours to deliver my brother, & 42 hours to give me life.
Even then she loved us so much! Believe me when I say that she would tell what she went through having us... we rarely misbehaved, & grew up to be pretty nice people.
11Lotus birth?! That cannot be sanitary...
124/5--I missed out on the lotus birth post over the summer. wow.
13rossy--thank for sharing you story. so sad for your aunts. sounds like your mom was the lucky one, after all.
I didn't feel any labor pains, though apparently it was obvious to my then-husband that I was contracting by my body movements. I didn't even notice. He finally said, "Okay, we need to go to the hospital." When we got there, I was dilated to 9. The pushing part hurt though.
I agree about the Lotus birth. Who does that??
14I knew #4 because a friend recently delivered her fourth child breech. Her pelvis was "proven" so they went with it and all was fine.
15I missed two, but I REALLY only missed one. I missed the word "Never" in the breech baby one. My girlfriend delivered her breech vaginally, she was just SO opposed to a C-Section, and baby is happy, healthy and full of spit and vinegar!
16right know at this moment i feel contractions. i called my dr. but i think this is common with twins. i am getting kind of anxious because i don't want something to be wrong, i am only 16 weeks. gotta keep the little ones in the oven a little longer.
17I didn't "feel" contractions until I was about 8 cm! I knew something didn't feel right, but I had no clue they were contractions. Glad my husband forced me to the hospital or I would have had my son in an unplanned water birth.
184/5.I have 13v days until my baby is due. It's not my first time giving birth so I knew all of them except the lotus birth.
195/5, I will never forget what a lotus birth is, I was so grossed out over that post!
205/5
21Congrats msshellokitty!
