Three-Year-Old Overdoses on "Date Rape" Drug

A thirsty three-year-old girl overdosed on GHB, also known as the "Date Rape" drug after mistaking it for water. The preschooler and her older sister had accompanied their mother to a National City apartment to score drugs.

There, the tot drank what appeared to be bottled water. The near fatal mistake landed the youngster in the hospital, her mother in jail and her sister at a relative's place.

Do you think this mama deserves another chance with her children?

I believe in second chances, but I would think rehab first then maybe supervised visitation.

I doubt someone who took their child to a drug house has a clear record, therefore I don't think she deserves anouther chance with her kids.

They were going to GET drugs. Which means, she wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time and drank the wrong thing. It means she was PUT in that situation BY her mother on PURPOSE. Also she is obviously in a similar situation at her own home considering that her mother would take her children with her to get drugs, gives me every reason to believe she doesn't hide drugs from her children and they probably have access to them at any given time.

2nd chance - maybe. but only after she goes into rehab and gets clean and stays clean for a certain period of time, and then she should have to be subject to routine (unannounced) visits by a sponsor and social worker for another period of time.

There is no way that she deserves another chance! She took her kids with her to score some drugs and that right there is enough reason! What is wrong with people these days? Poor kids.

If the mother was taking her kids to the drug house then she obviously isn't in the right mind to take care of those kids and doesn't deserve to have them. While second chances should be given in some situations I don't think this is one of them. Thankfully that little girl is still alive.

No. She took the child to score drugs. She got her second chance when the child made it through this horrific tragedy. I think its enough that she'll get to see her alive again. This woman demonstrated several lapses in judgment. 1. going to score drugs. 2. taking her children with her. 3. not watching their every move in that place. If there was an open bottle of drugs sitting within reach of a tot, then there were likely many other dangerous things within easy access. It would be a mistake to place those children back in her care . . . next time it could be a deadly mistake.

forget second chances! this is such a serious situation that she is not intitled to any more chances. she was doing meth right in front of her young children. then while she was high and distracted in a drug house, the younger one got her hands on a possibly lethal drug and almost died. I agree w/ Chaoticfury that maybe she could regain custody after a decade of rehab and sobriety. I only pray that these children have a relative who can care for them and keep them safer than thier mother did.

I do believe in second chances, but I believe they are a long and enduring road. I'm talking a decade of mental help and support at least. She took her children to a drug house and one almost died. Those kids need to grow up without that reminder. When they are adults and mature enough they can confront her, but until then I think those kids should grow up in a stable environment until they are 18.

depends on whether this is a first offense and what kind of treatment she is willing to accept. I believe everyone deserves a 2nd chance, but if this woman has been arrested before for drugs or has been repeatedly in trouble and neglecting her children then no, I think her kids would be better off in a different environment. I say this because my mom had a problem with drugs back in her 20's. She never was arrested, she went to rehab, I was never neglected due to the fact that my grandmother basically took me in for most of my young life. But my mom did get help and after that things were fine. And she never took me anywhere with her trying to score drugs and I never saw her doing drugs. It definitely depends on the situation, but for the next few months...the kids need to be in a safe place until its clear if their mother wants and gets help.
