Is the Term MILF a Compliment or Condescending?

The moniker MILF meaning "mom I'd like to (insert expletive here)" has become increasingly popular in the last few years. Little Pink Line, a mama owned clothing company celebrates the term with yoga pants printed across the tush ($40).

Have you been referred to as a MILF? If so, were you flabbergasted or flattered?

I get called this more often than any other term. Sometimes cougar!! I'm only 29 and have no kids so I feel really depressed hearing it. I guess it's better than the times people have just simply said "ugly" to me. But it's like saying "you look way older than your age, and look like you've been run over by a truck, but you haven't 'let yourself go' so I'd still do you." Gag.

It is a pathetic excuse to feel good about yourself! And further, I find it somewhat gross to think a woman is glad that her son's friends want to "F" her! Women proud to be called MILF should have their heads checked!

I'd take it as a compliment if I was older, but since I'm just 24 I'd be offended if someone thought I was already older and a mother. Milf is a funny sounding word, and it's nice to know others find you attractive. Our [American] culture makes older women out to be less attractive, and that childbirth stigmatizes someone as unappealing and untouchable, and the MILF term flips these stereotypes on its head, so it's empowering. Those were my personal reasonings for choosing it as a compliment.

I take the compliment from my husband and my girlfriends (when they say, "You're a MILF!) :) But seriously, no one needs words across their @ss except teenage girls - and that's really something that I find a bit tacky...

At it's core, the term "milf" seeks to separate women who have children into two groups: those who are "worthy" of sexual attention, and those who are not. Fuck that.

It definitely depends on who's saying it. Among friends, or my husband that's okay. But I sure as heck wouldn't wear it as an article of clothing.

Some high schoolers, possibly middle schoolers, yelled that out to me a few years ago at the mall while I was pushing my son's stroller. I thought it was funny and called my husband. His comment? "that's awesome!"

i always thought the term would come from the mouths of the peers of your children- so kids of middle to high school age- which is dumb on their part and gross on yours.

I don't like the term. I find it obnoxious. Luckily I don't think my husband knows the term. As far as a stranger calling me that? I'd probably be tempted to slap them. No one walks around telling random women they'd like to **** them, so why is it OK to say that to a woman who had a child?

If it came from young guy (who hasn't yet learned how you should compliment a woman) I would take it as a compliment....but at the same time I'm surely not going to wear it on my butt!!

I'm not a mother, but I find the term pathetic. Also, the woman in the pic is trying too hard, and she looks vulgar. I think sexuality is very positive (when it's expressed in a natural, classy way), not when it's contrived and vulgar.
