Tell Mommy: More Likely to Vote For Parent Politicians?

San Francisco's mayor, Gavin Newsom, recently confirmed that he's going to be a daddy. And some are speculating that it will play a role in his run for governor of California. We have a proud family man with President Obama in the White House. Does a politician being a parent ever influence your vote?

Obviously no one admits that they vote for someone based on looks, kids, etc. We all say we vote on the issues. It's human nature, we make a decision emotionally and then justify intellectually.

It can. I think that politicians that are parents come off as more believable when they discuss important issues surrounding children. Education, healthcare, etc. However, it is definitely not the deciding factor.

I vote on the issues, not personality, good looks, charm or whether or not they are a parent.

In all the times I've voted, I'm not aware of any of the candidates not being parents already. But no, it would not influence my vote. Parent or not, I don't care, where they stand on the issues is how I vote.
