Teen Mom: Fair For Farrah to Not Disclose New Address?

Farrah and Sophia moved out, but can they move on? In last night's episode of MTV's Teen Mom, the 18 year old packed up her daughter and got a new apartment. Though it seemed that tension had long been mounting (during both previous TV seasons) between Farrah and her mother, it ultimately led to a domestic violence charge against Debra. Farrah says she is cutting ties and doesn't want her family to know her new address, but baby Sophia is left in limbo between the two women that have been raising her. Do you agree with Farrah's decision?

Farrah is an awful mom who is more interested in guys than her child. Not only did she leave the child on a dirty floor in the dark, she left the baby in the hallway unattended. Sadly, her mom was the one who seemed to honestly care about the baby. I just wish mtv would share footage with cild services so they see how irresponsible Farrah is as a mother!

I have seen this show but I dont know how abusive Farrah`s mom is, but Farrah seems a terrible mom and I agree with the last comment poor Sophia is always left on the floor.....

I totally agree that domestic violence is unacceptable no matter how horrible Farrah behaves, but as someone who has seen this show, the real issue is that Sophia has primarily been raised by Farrah's mom, while Farrah was busy trying to live her teenage life as she had before her pregnancy. I understand her not wanting her family to know where she lives, but cutting the baby off from her primary caregiver is going to be really difficult for Sophia, and it appears (an has over the last season) that Farrah often uses Sophia as a bargaining chip against both parents, constantly threatening to take her away even though she doesn't really want to raise her (as evident by her angrily leaving Sophia on the floor of the guest house dining room, in the dark, after screaming at her because she was crying.) It's great someone is looking out for Farrah's well-being, but who is looking out for Sophia?

Skigurl: "She doesn't have to tell her mom, but she should let her parents be in the baby's life, if only for the child's sake." Sometimes it is for the child's sake that ties are cut. I'm not referring to this TV show, as I have never watched it, but trust me when I say sometimes it is better if ties are cut. If one of my parents (or my ex-husband's) became verbally, emotionally or physically abusive to me I would keep my child away from him/her. It is my duty as a parent to do the best by my child and if that means keeping someone I see as a danger away from my child, you can bet your you-know-what I will. I believe this so strongly I keep my ex-husband away from my daughter unless I am there as well, because he has a drinking and drugs problem and becomes (as above) physically, emotionally and verbally abusive to me and I will NOT tolerate this around my daughter, or even worse, to my daughter.

No child needs any certain influence in their life. My former FIL when my husband was dying, threatened me, my son, and threatened to rip out my husband's life support. He showed up drunk constantly, the nurses had to restrain him on multiple occasions. After my husband died, I told him to bugger off, moved, and didn't let that side of the family know where I was. I still have all of my mail forwarded to my attorney, who then forwards it to me. She has every right to cut ties. That woman is dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed around that child.

Now that I know more of the situation, I find this very well said: "I have no doubt her mom would ignore that and drop by whenever she wanted, so I think Farrah's finally being smart in not disclosing her address. Regardless of how awful Farrah was to her parents, it doesn't give her mother the automatic right to see her grandchild, in my opinion. " She doesn't have to tell her mom, but she should let her parents be in the baby's life, if only for the child's sake.

Her mom punched her and then threatened the police with a knife in each hand, refusing to put them down even at gunpoint. Farrah didn't press charges, it was bad enough that the state pressed charges against the mother. Yeah, Farrah has a right to not disclose where she lives, her mom made it VERY clear that court orders don't matter much to her. By court order, Farrah and one other adult must be there at all times when her mother is with the baby. I have no doubt her mom would ignore that and drop by whenever she wanted, so I think Farrah's finally being smart in not disclosing her address. Regardless of how awful Farrah was to her parents, it doesn't give her mother the automatic right to see her grandchild, in my opinion.

I don't condone violence, but my mom would have knocked me out too if I talked to her the way Farrah talks to her mom. She is really disrespectful to her parents. They don't need to know her new address, but they should be able to see their grandchild.

I haven't been watching so I don't know how serious the charge against her mother was, or what their situation is, but if she honestly hates her mom and her mom is abusive towards her, then I guess she doesn't need to tell her where she will be living with her baby! But there must be some sane family members who should know, for safety reasons. And plus, she shouldn't alienate herself from her family, or she will regret it in the future.
