Tattoos for Babies: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Nearly 50 percent of lilsugar readers like the idea of getting their child's pic tattooed on their body, but what about tattoos for your baby's body?

These Tattoos for Babies ($5) are temporary so you need not panic about CPS knocking on your door, but they do present a bit of a dilemma: Are they a cute and painless way to decorate baby or are they too close to pins and needles for comfort?

I have.....I don't know, does a sleeve count as one? Anyway, I am pretty well inked. I married into a family full of tattoo artists. Before my father in law passsed last June, he always kept fakies at the shop for the grandkids when they visited. I think the idea of putting the lil fakies on an infant is a cute holiday thing. All my kids got mistletoe temp tats on their lil buttcheeks for their first Christmases and even my 80 year old grandmother thought it was the cutest thing! But really, the kids don't start to have fun with it until they can pick out their own & be creative with it. Essentially, every family has it's own dynamic & way of life. As long as they aren't actually taking their little ones to a shop & saying "Hey man, break out your guns & tat my kid", whose business is it anyway?

I have a few tattoos, but would not buy these for my son. For babies, they're just a waste of money. Once my little one gets bigger (around 3), if he shows interest in them, maybe. Even though I love all of my tattoos (and plan on getting more), I will not encourage it in my household.

I think they are pretty funny - I put a butterfly "tramp stamp" on my daughters back when she was about 6 months old (the only ones who saw it were my family and the daycare sitter). It just made me giggle when I saw it. My son LOVES the tattoos (they are better than gum at the grocery store)- he is 6 and has loved them for years. They are harmless and funny - a great way for them to express themselves.

I probably wouldn't put them on a baby because they probably would just be too young to really care. My 3 year old on the other hand LOVES temporary tattoos. I don't think I would of ever thought of this on my own but her day care provider did it with them and it was an awesome idea. When putting them on you generally have to wait 20-30 seconds and she loves counting out loud while we wait. Fun and educational!

Yeah "I don't like these" isn't uptight, it's opinion. I wouldn't put these on my baby for daily wear, but I would for a party or something.I have five tattoos and highly recommend them. I can't wait to get more!

I bought this for my friend as a joke. I can't imagine buying this for myself and bringing it home for my own child.. but it seems like a great gag gift and fun for families who are into tattoos. It's a novelty item folks, relax!!

I'm a tattooed mama as well but didn't love these :-/ Maybe for a toddler or a child that was old enough to want one. It may be my anti-tattoo husband rubbing off on me :-(

i love them! I'd a tattooed momma, and I come from a family that loves tattoos too, so I think it would be fun to stick one on my little guy every once in a while (say, to dress him up like a little biker for Halloween). I actually want to go order them now!
