Baby Talk: Do You Engage in Constant Conversation With Your Infant?

Some parents talk, sing, and entertain their infants even though the babes don't answer back because they want to shower the tots with attention. Other moms and pops feel awkward having one-sided conversations with wee ones and hold off on excessive dialogue until the children attempt to chat. Which way did you choose to communicate?

I talked to my daughter when she was a baby. I'd stick her in the sling while I was packing my lunch for work, and give her the rundown of what I was doing.

I started talking to all of my nieces and nephews in the beginning. In fact, in utero for all of them except the first one and that's only because I lived across the country from their mom then.

As an expectant mom, I plan to talk to my baby almost constantly, but not to shower my baby with attention. Talking to your babe helps develop verbal skills. Granted, I'll be starting before it's any real help, but it's a great habit to start with!
