Carve out time to do some reading each day. Schedule a family time to unplug — for parents and kids to put away their tech toys, turn off the TV, and read together. If your kids are little, this can mean reading aloud to them, and if they're older, you can all enjoy quietly reading your own books in the same space.
As a parent, you are your child’s first reading role model. If they see you reading, they'll want to partake, too. Remember, reading is not limited to fiction. Check out children’s magazines, newspapers, poetry, graphic novels (novels told in comic book form), and nonfiction options to keep things interesting.
