If you're one of the many women who suffers from not being able to sleep during pregnancy, it may seem like some sort of a cruel joke in preparation for life with a newborn. While there may be some truth to this, there's no reason to succumb to a fate of insomnia.

Before baby arrives, you'll want to make a point of getting plenty of rest, as afterwards, it's likely to be completely out of your control. Follow these seven tips, and with any luck, you'll be back to getting your eight hours of Zzz's by by tomorrow morning. Sweet dreams!

I don't know what I would have done without my sleep pillow. I still sleep with it and my son is 9 months old. The sleep positions can be very individual though - if you're more comfortable on your right side, it's likely more beneficial because you'll get a better rest. My doctors through all three pregnancies didn't mind me sleeping on my back either, they all said that I'd naturally turn to my side when I needed to. But mostly I slept propped up, especially with the last pregnancy. It helped with the heartburn (which I had even with prescription strength meds, to the point where it caused heart problems) as well as keeping my arms and hands from falling asleep, which they inevitably did if I slept on either side.
